Thurgoona Family Pharmacy

Made us wait for 15 mins only to be told I need a prescription for an asthma pump. For a pharmacy to put people in danger in not giving them an essential item, is dangerous and disgusting.

I was refused service by the pharmacist when I presented with a script for contraception. He then proceeded to lecture me about having children (I’m married with 2 kids) saying that he was blessed with 9 children and wouldn’t I want to have more? A pharmacist’s role is to dispense medication, not verbalise personal opinions about what should go into another woman’s uterus. It’s disappointing and unprofessional that this pharmacist cannot separate his personal views from his work. The worrying thing is a young woman may have the same experience from this man and be shamed into questioning her choices. That would be completely unacceptable. I urge you to shop elsewhere and not support this type of disgraceful behaviour.

I find all staff to be extremely helpful, knowledgeable and very friendly! It always feels like such a personable experience; definitely a family pharmacy.

Simon and his helpful, professional team are well informed and always deliver service with a smile. Nothing is too difficult and they have an excellent range of reasonably priced products. Even after moving away from Thurgoona I still come here for my scripts and advise. 10 out of 10!

Thurgoona caters to a large percentage of young people due to the proximity of the university. The idea that a pharmacy wouldn’t stock contraception is crazy to me. Poor ideals, poor service. Lack of safe prevention leads to pregnancy and in a lot of cases, abortion. Not very Christian of you.

This business has taken it upon themselves to limit women’s access to basic contraception and healthcare. I have been refused service twice for two separate contraceptive medications and am disgusted that in Australia in 2022 there continue to be individuals force their personal views upon others to the point that it impacts their health.

It's now been 3 years since my partner and I, as well as my partner's parents, moved to the area and I wrote my previous review.Our experiences over this time have only further confirmed my stance with the original review. 5 stars. Staff remember our names, ask with genuine care/concern about how things are going and are very helpful in the rare occasion that something needs further attention. I still highly recommend this pharmacy. All staff are great. Simon and Jo are amazing.

My partner and her parents are all new to the area. They have all found the service offered by Simon and his team to be excellent. I personally had a prescription that several other pharmacies had been unable to fill due to supply issues. Simon went above and beyond to investigate, locate and order in the medication that I required. I cannot recommend them enough.
