Hellyer Gorge is a nice offbeat drive away from the Cradle Mountain hype and tourist flow. Free camping at the gorge bottom. One on the right hand side of the road and one off to the left. Even though toiletries are on the right hand side of the road choose the other side. Tall trees and ferns gently litter the campsite and offer far more shading than the toiletries camp side.Gorge itself is good for a swim with cooler temperatures.

Excellent motorcycling road. The drive is moderately scenic, but really the focus for my trip was riding.

Beautiful spot without the crowds. The trees and man ferns are amazing. Nearly always wet and cool. The river is an easy walk.

Nice secluded area. Perfect way to get away from everything.

A little disappointed at Hellyer Gorge - my reading online made it sound spectacular but it was pretty average. Certainly a nice circuit walk that was worth doing, of only about 15 minutes duration. Worth a stop if you’re travelling the A10 but it may not be worth taking that longer route especially to see Hellyer Gorge.
