Mount Ainslie Nature Reserve
A beautiful climb from the rear of the war memorial upto the top of Mount Ainslie. At a moderate pace its about a 30-45 minute climb (20min for the decent). The pathway is about 800mm wide all the way up and is either concrete or asphalt. There are a number of natural uneven steps especially towards the top so take your time.

It has some excellent running tracks from hard surface to rock tracks and everything in-between. If your lucky the local kangaroos may join you on your run

Great walking track. Plenty of wild life to see. There's a canteen at the top. Bring a water bottle though. Not pram friendly. You can bring a dog on a leash. Plenty of photography areas. The top is One of the best viewing platforms for Canberra. I must do if you visit Canberra.

Good challenging walk with a sealed path scattered steps, plenty of plaques to read. As you climb there are tracks leading off to other destinations making it a great place to explore. The views are fantastic and the abundant birds sing as you walk.

A good 1 hour up, and half an hour down, if walking at an easy pace and stopping occasionally to catch breath and enjoy the bush, wildlife and view. Search Kokoda Trail on Google Maps for the beginning of the sealed track, which is about 50m in from the footpath behind the War Memorial. The track itself is mostly a gentle climb with not that many steps. If you are not relatively fit, I would recommend getting someone to drive you up to the top, and just walking down and meeting them at the War Memorial.
