My high-mileage Volkswagen was leaking oil like a colander when it rolled into Alphington Automotive two months ago.By then, the car had already been examined by mechanics from three other shops, all of whom failed to diagnose the problem accurately.The same morning, Ben took me to the workshop floor to show me in person what was wrong with my vehicle, how it can be fixed, and how much it will cost.I appreciated his honesty on which issues are a priority and which ones can be left alone for now. I also liked that he was transparent about which problems he wasn't knowledgeable about.Along the way, he also pointed out a gearbox issue that a mechanic from another shop had assured me was normal"

Honest mechanic. Reliable as well. Couldn’t manage to fix my car on the spot, was happy for me to bring it back at a later date. Recommend highly if you’re looking for an honest and thorough mechanic

Ben was completely transparent and honest. A true passion for cars and cares about his customers on a personal level. Brought my Scirocco in as it had a check engine light on. After clearing the engine light with no observable issue, he didn’t even charge me! Seriously impressed and very grateful, thankyou! Will be coming back

Ben went above and beyond to help me. He not only spent time he didn't have during the busy pre-Xmas period to look at my van, after finding some major mechanical issues, he didn't even charge me for it. He took the time to explain what was wrong and I could tell he really felt for me when also noting signs of a possible cover-up of the issues by the previous owner (I'd only just recently bought the van). Ben is most definitely one of the good guys!

Just moved house and left my hybrid car with Ben and co for a diagnostic as to why it keeps overheating. After doing the obvious checks Ben called me recommending I take it to Toyota just in case it was something hybrid-specific a general mechanic wouldn't pick up and then refused to charge me for his time. Such a lovely surprise, especially considering I was gearing myself up (no pun intended) to have to dip into savings to afford multiple mechanics! Whilst I can't speak to actual mechanical work, I highly recommend the team for their kindness and friendliness.

My rare and retro old blue ute was wandering slowly into the mechanical abyss - up until a visit to Ben at Alphington Automotive.It was a full overhaul, a big job - but the thoroughness, the visible skill, the attention to detail and the tangible respect for the vehicle was clearly evident when I got my ute back. The final bill was within the quoted range even with Ben completing the extra work that he felt needed doing. Five stars - easily.

Ben is an outstanding mechanic. He's really helpful and always willing to assist with issues even over the phone. We've had two services here and we are really happy with the quality, communication and price point. It's good to have a mechanic who you can trust to give a straight answer about things.
