Wonderful place! Raymond is, as you may expect, a little eccentric but is an amazing fellow, extremely knowledgeable about pianos and takes great pride in making old pianos playable again when everyone else has given up on them. He says he is available to travel anywhere in Australia to work on a piano (not necessarily old) and can do everything in situ without needing to bring the action back to his own workshop.Although getting on a bit in years, Raymond adopts all the new technology that he thinks is useful, including electronic tuning customized for the player (whose playing has pulled the piano out of tune over time), rather than traditional aural tuning. He confirmed my father's view that tuning should start from the bass and proceed upwards, because the tension in the bass strings changes the shape of the frame and pulls the treble strings out of tune. Nearly all modern tuners, after the middle tuning octave, for some reason tune the treble first and the bass afterwards, which is, beyond reasonable doubt, incorrect.The pianos in the museum are amazing. Some, marked by green dots, can be played lightly and show the huge differences in tone between old pianos, whereas all modern pianos sound much the same. The Golden Era" of pianos is not

A great display of 1800’s pianos and some significant parts of Australian history. Also great to lean about the history of pianos. Well worth a visit.

Amazing place to visit. An amazing host that really made the experience enjoyable and fun. The amount of knowledge and equipment in this place is amazing.Highly commended and recommended for a visit.
