The GPS will take you through a housing estate (which is all locked up). Access to Mount Coochin is actually 2672 Old Gympie Road

Little carpark off old Gympie road, google maps didn't help, I used all trails to find the carpark. Its a pretty good hike, mostly mild, a little rock scrambling. Two peaks which is a nice change from most hikes.Has some absolutely stunning views from the top of both peaks.Would recommend 8+ Yo unless they are experienced hikers.Hiking boots or trail shoes both work well.

Love this trek. It's a nice fairly easy one with heaps of options on which way to go. You can even come down from one of the twins and do the fire trail for a flat couple of ks before cruising back up the other twin. Love it.

Great walk, we were the only people there on a School holiday afternoon. It is about 2kms circuit and about the same incline as mount Coolum.

Turn into Old Gympie road off Peachester Road & head to the carpark at #2672. There is only parking for about 6 or 7 cars. Start the walk throught the gate. Can check a satellite view of the area to on Google & you can see the trails. We found it easiest to go in a clockwise direction. The trails are reasonably easy to follow. Make sure to take some water as it is essential especially on a warm day, 700ml per person should do, or more if weather is hot. Most peaple should be ok to walk the trails from about 8yrs. Be aware that there are some slightly harder sections where it could be slippery under foot from loose stones. There is some parts where larger steps are needed or small scramble up or down depending on direction. Views in all directions can be enjoyed of the surrounding area including the Glasshouse Mtns. Is a good walk for those wanting some small challenges & experience is not really required. Thereare 2 peaks so the whole circuit means going up one then down betwen them, then up the other. We did come accross a Goanna at th top of the Eastern peak but he kept well to himself. Use common sense if near steep areas... keep to the trails & take care.

Amazing hike, love the scramble.Car park entrance: Google for 2672 Old Gympie Rd, drive into the driveway and you will see a small parking sign in front of you on the right hand side.Other ppl have recommended to go anti-clock wise which I did (entrance is second on the right as you walk up, with the marked tree) and I would suggest that too as coming out from the other end, the entry wasn't obvious.

Steep hike but worth it.Keep left at the fork in the road after the carpark. After 70m or so you'll see the trail off up the hill to the right, marked by arrows on a tree. It is a steep hike up to the top but the views are worth it.

Awesome little mountain to climb on a sunny winter morning with a mate. Approx 2 hours up and back, good bit of uphill exercise. Fabulous views!

Great, quiet hike - we didn't see another soul on a Sunday morning in spring! Definitely adding this to my list of local mountains to climb.I've uploaded an image showing where the carpark is (black circle - at 2672 Old Gympie Rd - drive in then turn right and you'll see the green 'P' sign for parking) the fire trail around base of mountain that you start/end at (blue) and the hike itself - red - recommend in an anti-clockwise direction (black arrows). If you look on Google maps at the satellite view, you should be able to faintly see where the trail is, I tried not to totally obscure this with my quick markup. The trail isn't marked anywhere, but if you have a decent eye, you should be able to follow it pretty easily. Other reviews have outlined the start, but briefly - from the carpark, take the fork to the left, then 50-100m up on the right is the trail - someone had carved arrows into a tree at the base of the trail when we did it. If you follow the loop all the way round as I have marked, you come back out down on that bottom fire trail (blue) just a few hundred meters along from where you went up.Took me and a friend just over an hour with a little break at each peak and a few on the way up. If you're fit, it won't be too difficult, but wouldn't take small kids or anyone with bad knees on this one! Definitely loose rock and scree, and some rock scrambling. We went early Sep and saw some gorgeous flowers blooming - particularly the small pink orchids. Wouldn't do this one in the hot half of the year unless you went super-early, as it is quite exposed.

This is a 2km loop hike, there is a lot of uphill sections at the start, you will be climbing two mountains so it does go up, down often. When you get to the first mountain and go down, it is a steep and rocky, so be careful. Be sun smart on this hike as it’s exposed and only limited parking is available. Excellent views along the way of the glass house mountains.“Jonique Life” If you find value in our reviews please consider following our social media outlets on Facebook and Instagram as we highlight magical places you can add to your ever growing bucket list.
