Buttondery Community Recycling Centre

This is a great recycling centre for the Central Coast. Very clean and organised.We needed to dispose of 7 x 10 litre paint drums left by the painters after our house build. All paint drums only had a small amount of residual paint in each drum.We rang prior to leaving home, but our message went to a message bank. We left a message, and to date, we have not received a reply. We also checked the councils website, and it only stated that this is the recycling station to dispose of paints and other hazardous waste items. There is no disclosure of limits.After entering the facility, we were advised that we could only offload 2 x 10 litre containers (limit of 20 litre), regardless of the actual volume of paint within each container. If we had known this prior to driving 40+ minutes to this recycling depot, we would have emptied all paints into 1 or 2 containers.But then this leads us to still having to dispose of the empty paint containers.If we weren't environmentally inclined, it would be just too easy to just offload the remaining containers in normal garbage collection, which is far from being environmental.We would have been happy to pay a fee to ensure we could have disposed of all the paint and their containers at the one visit.If someone had manned the phones for a quick response, we would have been more aware of the recycling depots guidelines.
