Perfect spot for a group of 4. The long table for 8 was a little awkward. The soup base was yummy and there was a good selection of meat & veggie dishes but lack of seafood. We definitely over-ordered! Unfortunately, my boyfriend and I both got food poisoning but most of the group were okay.

Situated across from the hk street food rest. I recommend the prawn paste with fish roe and fried tofu sheet (both home made) Reasonably priced hot pot joint dipping sauces was $2 each, the double flavour hotpot’s $15. BYO $2 pp and no cake surcharge

Overall service was quite quick, but the food was not that great. The green beans, although cooked well, were quite salty. The pork belly slices were thinner than displayed on the menu, and the amount of pickled vegetables hidden underneath the pork belly was too much. The wontons in the spicy oil tasted ok but weren’t anything special. All dishes here were enough for 4 people.

The staff are extremely fast and good in service. We ordered 2-sides fish hotpot. The broth are amazing. The crispy rice sticks with brown sugar syrup are super delicious. Highly recommended.Just 1 disappointing point is pork belly slices which made me a bit sick later. With the amount of food we ordered, the price is reasonable.Overall, it's a good experience. Definitely will come back again

It was a positive experience, soup base is on point and a few of the other hot pot dish is quite yum.My favourite was the fried pork, the dumplings and the hand cut beef.Although nothing spectacular, its not bad.

Had high expectations as I'm a huge fan of Spicy Joint (in Burwood, CBD & Chatswood) but was slightly disappointed after trying here. Menu retains some of SJ's dishes (such as their cold dishes & snacks) but mainly offers a hotpot experience. We got the double flavour soup base in spicy & bone broth. Really didn't like how they don't allow you to make your own sauces - they only have 5 pre-made dipping sauces to choose from. We got the 'secret sauce' because of the sesame sauce but there was too much chill oil and not enough garlic.Quality of ingredients is a great though, not top tier but pretty good quality for the price you're paying. However, their hotpot ingredients are quite limited, they basically had no seafood and didn't have lobster balls, fish roe balls or rice cake with cheese. Service was friendly and I enjoyed the non-hotpot dishes we ordered, but I probably wouldn't return for their hotpot.Pictured:Double flavour soup base (spicy & bone broth) hotpot with various ingredientsDipping sauces: chilli sauce, 'secret' sauceSpicy cold noodles with shredded egg & chicken, chilli sauce & peanut butterFried rice cake with brown sugar

Ordered ALOT of food worked out to only be $45pp. Very hearty and enjoyable meal - will be back!! had the standard milky / szechuan chilli soup base. Chilli side was Too spicy for me though. Good enough variety overall and each dish was very generous portions - high cost to value ratio. Good quality sliced beef and sliced pork belly @ $9.80 per plate, also enjoyed the prawn + fish roe paste (it was all prawn too!), fish roe balls, shiitake mushroom balls, fish tofu, prawn dumplings, fried bean curd skin. The dipping sauces @ $2 each were generous and very tasty too! (Liked the bean paste and chilli one). BYO alcohol (including beer) @ $10 per wine bottle.

Incredibly disappointed with the service and quality of food. Was standing awkwardly at the front of the “wait to be seated” sign whilst staff walked by ignoring my group as they chatted and went on their phones. Had to approach the staff if we could sit and she didn’t bother greeting us, she just turned around and walked us to our seat. Staff then gave us our menus then left - didn’t really explain how we should order especially as it was my friends first time trying hotpot. When we asked a question the staff also gave slight attitude. Other staff serving us had airpods in both ears as well. When we got our orders it was incredibly underwhelming and disappointing. The chicken tenders looked like brain as it was incredibly slimy and chunky. The meat portions was very little for what we paid for and there was limited options for the soup base.Definitely will not be back nor would I recommend. Only nice thing about this place was the interior.

The restaurant looks nice and clean, but we dined around late lunchtime, so the restaurant was almost empty aside from 2 other groups of people. Therefore, we can't really comment on ambience or atmosphere. Service was quick & staff were polite. We ordered the Pork & Preserved Veg + Fried tofu & seafood with steam rice. Food arrived barely warm, and our rice was dry, not soft and fluffy. Not long into our lunch, we were asked to settle our bill as they were closing soon? We ended up paying and didn't bother to finish our meal. We left because we lost our appetite.

The soup base is tasty and delicious. The prices are very reasonable. Despite not having a self service sauce section, their special spicy sauce is delicious and beats my usual selections at other places. I have tried other spicy joints but my favourite is still at Rhodes Central. The staff are friendly and I love the tea they serve there as well. It goes so well with the food.
