Whalers Rest Motor Inn
The rooms are well serviced and clean. Two large double beds which are very firm.Dining table small, kettle, microwave and toaster provided. Good shower and a decent TV screen.Managers are caring and polite.The BBQ area works but is in desperate need of a clean! No pool.Seems to be a quiet motel too so sleep is ok.Aircon works well but is noisy.Good value for money

Pros: Cheap, clean bathroom, sheets and towels. Shower hot.Cons: Bed linen damp, electric blanket electric cords frayed exposing wires risking fire, TV remote not working, no outlook, mattress old and sagging, pillows like envelopes and uncomfortable, parking outside rooms making it noisy when sleeping, cutlery and microwave provided but nowhere to wash up other than bathroom sink, bedside lamps broken, piggy backing of cords into cheap power boards untagged, carpet not vacuumed and someone's old sock left behind.

Close but secluded location. Good signage. Easy access to Portland. Large room with space to settle in well. Busy but quite at night. Internet worked well.

We were unfortunate enough to arrive on a long weekend and paid a lot more than the normal nightly rate.However, the sheets and pillowcases were crisp, white and the bed was comfortable. The air conditioner was very noisy, and we just turned off.The bathroom is cramped, and a glass shelf is badly placed above the basin making it very difficult to for a tall person to wash. We found the shower floor slippery and there was no heating in the bathroom.Not somewhere I would recommend.

Jas & Nav are excellent host’s. Clean and tidy rooms, always a welcoming smile and warm conversation. I’ve stayed here a dozen times or more in the past year & I’ve always left feeling happy, welcomed & appreciated.Thanks guys - see you again next week :)

We booked late but loved this place. The staff are helpful, polite, and really enjoy being able to share information about this fantastic and beautiful part of the world. We loved it so much and wanted to explore more so stayed an extra night. This wasn't an issue for them and recommend other places to see while in town. We can't recommend enough a visit to Portland and Whalers Rest.

Amazing & extremely friendly service. Comfortable bed and great bathroom with a beautiful spa. Nice & quiet complex with only a very short drive into town. We also needed a late checkout and the service was fantastic in accommodating this for us.
