Tinny's Butterfly House and Underwater Cafe
A wonderful and informative experience. Our guide Jason was wonderful, very happy to bring out reptiles to show us and answer our many questions on all of the butterflies and other animals there. We got to see and hold many different reptiles and insects. Very unique experience. The only downfall was the limited food, I'm not a fan of hotdogs at the best of times though. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, thank you Jason.

We had a large group of 25 come through and the customer service from Rachel in particular was outstanding. She helped us all to get our drinks and food and thoroughly enjoy ourselves. Steph was great with helping us meet Sunny the snake and Toothless the lizard, both of whom the kids loved. Row was wonderful in organising our group arrangements at booking too. The butterflies were lovely and sociable, and so were the sharks and rays. The underwater cafe was unique and full of things to look at. We did this on a whim but really glad we did. Would definitely recommend. It was really fun and great as a rainy day activity for all ages. Thanks again guys! Especially Rachel!

Came here today with my sister and cousin for a day out, had an absolute Blast! The butterflies were absolutely beautiful! As we’re all the Rays, sharks and eels! Had a lovely man, come around and present us with beautiful rescued Animals to hold such as a turtle, a blue tongue and a spiny leaf insect! We had a young girl lily serve us all food and even put some whip cream on my almond croissant for me! It was a really beautiful thing to see all these rescued animals get a second chance. We came at 1pm exactly and didn’t end up leaving until closing time! The fun was just never ending! Definitely a place to bring the family! We all paid $60 each for the experience and got all our food free! Had a top bloke named Shane introduce us to all the animals and provide us with bait to feed the rays and eels! We had so much fun stepping into the water and feeding them! We also met two lovely birds by the name of Elvis and Rio and even though Rio dropped a dookie on my jacket, I have since forgiven him.

Absolutely amazing experience. Jason was an amazing host, who knew eels were so friendly! And that was a pretty decent hotdog.

This was a really cool extra to add on to the wonderful experience with the Shark and Ray Rescue Centre. The butterfly house was cool, and Tinny would keep coming out with different small insects and reptiles that you could have a personal encounter with. You have a choice of hot dogs, and it was great to see a vegetarian option which was tasty. If you didn't want a hot dog you could have a sweet option like a muffin or something. It was great watching the rays and sharks swimming above us as we ate. Staff are lovely. Just a wonderful experience. This, and the Shark and Ray Rescue Centre was the highlight of our trip.

We really had the best time, had to drag the kids (and grandma) away after 3hrs of seeing everything, some things 2-3 times! Very engaging and interactive, staff are super friendly and helpful. We're from Newcastle, staying in the area but would be worth a day trip alone. I'm surprised at the negative reviews. Highly recommend.

Overpriced and under-delivers.Photos on their website are mostly stock footage and are not of the site.Low quality tourist attraction. We saw a tourist sign on the highway and decided to go. Down an unsealed road, we found a collection of old farm sheds at the end. Inside were 4 pretty run down tanks with a variety of small sharks and rays.More staff than visitors when we went, and the staff were happy to take our money but not show us around. The dodgy surrounds could have been overcome with enthusiastic guides, but wasn’t to be. They just weren’t interested.I note many of the reviews on Google are “local reviewers”, and their experiences seem to differ hugely from mine… I wonder why and if they are truly independent reviewers?I mentioned this poor tourist attraction to my hotel receptionist in the area, and they seemed to also be embarrassed of the site.My advice: save your money. There are other better quality tourist attractions to visit.

This place is definitely a hidden treasure. It’s got a nice rustic nature to it. All staff were super friendly and knowledgeable about the animals. This experience was intimate and super interactive with all animals. We were able to meet, hold and learn about some beautiful Macaws. Feed and pet some Sharks, Eels, Rays, Turtles. Got the chance to hold some Snakes, Bearded Dragons, Blue Tongue Lizards and my absolute favourite the Butterflies. You’ll even get the chance to see some other animals like Scorpions, Seahorses, Nemo fish and Frogs. This experience isn’t something that should be rushed it really allows you to slow down and appreciate the smalls things around you.Thank you to Jason and all the staff at the Butterfly house and Underwater cafe, for providing just a great experience.Would definitely recommend!

Great hands on fun for kids and adults. However, around $200 for a family of four for a couple of hours of fun is expensive. In comparison Taronga zoo family pass is around $130, and Hunter Valley Wildlife park family pass is around $120. Unfortunately the price tag will make the experience inaccessible to a lot of families and kids, and that is a shame.
