Had a great day out with Tristan and Roam guides abseiling and canyoning around the Blue Mountains. Great to move around with a smaller group of people which gave the day a personalized touch. Tristan's local knowledge also provided interesting discussions and helped us plan the rest of our stay!

Incredible full day out abseiling in the morning and a canyon tour in the afternoon with a group of 8. Tristan and Declan were beyond fun and struck the ideal balance between safety and allowing us freedom. Highly recommend the team and will definitely be back. Thanks guys!!

A brilliant day in the Mountains. It was a mental and physical challenge abseiling and canyoning with Roam Adventures tour operator Tristan. Tristan ensured we were safe and provided an encouraging and educational environment for us (3 people) to explore the Blue Mountains from a completely new perspective. Bloody loved it.

Premium Experience All RoundMy husband and I traversed Serendipity Canyon in Mount Wilson, an intermediate grade canyon selected by our beautiful guide Aimee, due to our previous canyoning experience and our love of nature. (I do like to soak in my surroundings and stop to say 'hello' to all the creatures). ROAM personalised our adventure to our small group, provided premium quality gear and an absolutely delicious lunch. Aimee is the best guide we have ever experienced canyoning; she is professional, extremely knowledgable about canyoning (she lives and breathes it) and safety is paramount. It was a hot day for the mountains and Aimee made sure we were hydrated and well looked after. The scenery was lush and brimming with life. We saw many crayfish, colourful butterflies, water dragons and black cockatoos. The 'wow' moment came at the end when we emerged from the canyon into the clear sandy bottomed Wollangambe River. We could have spent all day there.Such a fantastic day! We highly recommend ROAM and Aimee for your next canyoning adventure.

An absolute amazing day!I first wanted to book a standard Abseiling introduction course. During our first contact, Tristan asked a few questions about our previous experience and then recommended that we do something more advanced. He was SO RIGHT!Together with Brian, he picked the perfect Abseiling course, taught us the technique and got all 5 of us down safely while having tons of fun. In total, 200 m of vertical thrill. The entire day was planned in detail - they even provided snacks, water and sun cream.Tristan's wife had prepared the most amazing sandwiches, which were ready for us the moment we came back up to our cars. The night before, we were able to pick our favorite combination - anything from homemade beefsteak to cured salmon. A veritable feast! We even got photos from our adventure in the mail the next day. What a great contrast to the other companies, I had contacted before. This trip was highly individualized and just perfect for my family.

So, serendipity meant I found Tristan and his Roam colleagues, Chatting in lovely Blackheath over a coffee introduced me to Canyoning. I asked around where I might find real adventure with local experts and my enquiries lead to Roam. The next day, kitted up with top notch gear and a delicious lunch for local cafe - Altitude, we headed off to scope out a new canyon for guiding called Dionne Dell, deep in the Kanangra National Park. Just the drive from Blackheath to Kanangra was worth the money. We were a small team and headed off into the bush to find the depression that marked the start of the creek that would soon become Dionne Dell. As a Brit, used to yomping through the UK mountains, doing this in Australia with all the incumbent snakes etc added that extra frisson. The creek abruptly ended in a 30m waterfall with a near vertical drop. I was lucky to be surrounded by super experienced guides lead by Tristan, Roam's owner. An abseil anchor was soon set up and the fun began. Dionne Dell totalled five significant abseils through true remote back country. The guidable canyon ends at the top of Margaret Falls, a 100m vertical drop that can be abseiled but only for true experts. This was my first full bore canyon experience, the abseils were impressive, but the guiding team of Tristan, Aimee and Mika were brilliant at safe, fun route finding and exhilarating plunges through refreshing water. The trip ended with a beautiful exit hike through wild bush, including a scramble over Kanangra scarp with amazing views. So in short, if you fancy some of the best wilderness canyoning, check our Tristan and the team at Roam. Brilliant.

Recently went on a canyoning tour with Tristan from Roam Adventures. The whole thing from start to finish was fantastic.Tristan explained each step clearly and calmly, and his vast experience showed and you could tell a lot of care and thought had gone into every detail of his service. The equipment was clean, presentable and high quality.Overall what really stood out was how much it didn't actually feel like a tour service, and that's solely down to the way Roam set there trips up.If you are reading this and debating whether to go on a trip with Roam I could not recommended them enough.

We did Rocky Canyon / Sheep Dip falls with Tristan and Roam in Jan 2023. It was an incredible experience that you absolutely could not have without a guide. Tristan was extremely professional, patient, fun, knowledgeable, and capable, and provided everything we needed (including a top quality lunch!), going over and above to help us have a magical and safe canyoning experience. Huge recommend!

tl;dr we had such an incredible time that we have already booked in to go canyoning less than a week out from our initial adventure with Roam!+++We booked with Roam as we wanted a more personal experience and they surpassed our expectations in every way.First of all, the booking process was a breeze. Tristan is incredibly responsive (and patient – as we were much less so) and was more than happy to respond to our somewhat verbose enquiry and presented us with well thought-out options. The team was flexible, we ended up doing a day trip as opposed to the initially proposed overnight (due to work). Even then, we ran late and the team was understanding and gracious as we were driving from Sydney. Our day out with Aimee was fabulous, she was incredibly friendly and professional. Absolutely loved her passion for canyoning as her enthusiasm was infectious. She's a great teacher and very encouraging – literally talked me out of a panic attack at the edge of a cliff so that I was able to abseil down.We did a half day abseil and half day at Empress Canyon which is gorgeous in its own right but we really believe Aimee (and our wider experience with Roam) was what made our experience so enjoyable. Loved the fact that they were able to time our departure so that we did not encounter other groups, made us feel like we had the entire canyon to ourself (and this was a Saturday too). Additionally, as someone who's job includes a lot of WHS, I really appreciated her focus on safety. And I agree with the other reviewer's comment: the sandwich itself is worth 5 starts on its own.
