Embrace Garden Design - Transformations by Emma Carew-Reid

Emma is a true landscape artist. She transformed our garden from a high maintenance nightmare to a beautiful, contemporary, manageable space. Emma listened to our concerns about the impracticality of our garden with its huge, concrete ornamental pond, multiple paths, mass perennial plantings and the lack of privacy from our neighbours. We felt that we wanted a garden which was lovely but more contemporary and manageable. We were also particularly keen to remove the large pond but somehow retain the magnificent large, central Forest Pansy tree.Emma met all these challenges. Her imaginative design centred around the large tree, now within a square of lawn surrounded by a new large spotted gum deck, two stunning stone bench seats, a new evergreen planting framework, timber privacy screens, a makeover of our rather intrusive garage wall and even a firepit. The multiple paths were removed and replaced by a main path in a pleasing mix of bluestone and our existing old brick pavers. All the unwanted garden features were removed, including our large pond. Emma also assisted in engaging a fantastic quality landscaper. The garden is now completed and we can absolutely say that our expectations have been more than met and we are delighted with the final result. Emma was fabulous. She was so generous with her time and went out of her way to really get the feel of what we were after for our garden and pool area. We particularly liked the way she thought about how our garden would fit in with our lifestyle. She steered us away from high maintenance ideas which was exactly what we wanted. Emma’s knowledge of plants was impressive. She also was great at visualising how the spaces would work. We loved that she came up with so many awesome ideas to help us achieve a smooth transition from inside to out. Emma also took into consideration our small space, very tight budget and was able to come up with some creative solutions that would give us the affect we were after. Her enthusiasm for a garden and design that is achievable, low maintenance and sustainable is impressive. We knew Emma was the right garden designer for us when one of the first things she wanted was to see what we could take from the present surroundings as inspiration for our new garden.We loved her honesty, her ability to problem solve issues we hadn’t even considered and give suggestions to improve on ideas we had proposed.
