Thomas Allen Wines

This winery's focus is on making great wines for their members which means everything is good and there's less emphasis on touristy things like producing wines from a particular vineyard and more focus on sourcing the best grapes available. They also do a lovely sparking shiraz which is recommended. The staff are all great and will sit down and chat like old mates while you do your tasting.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is by far one of the most amazing wineries to visit in the Hunter. We come to the Hunter every year to tick wineries off our list and we always come back to Thomas Allen. Staff are incredible, they are extremely personable and super friendly, helpful and attentive. We have had the pleasure of having John II as our most recent wine tasting guide and he was so kind, knowledgeable and made our experience (like every year we come here) feel like home. The scenery is beautiful, you can come here and sit out in their open alfresco area and enjoy the view whilst sipping on your wine. Great selection of whites and reds with great depth of flavour. If you love a red, would recommend the Alasdair, Encore and even the chilled Boss. Will always return to Thomas Allen and would never hesitate to recommend to anyone.

Was recommended by a friend to come here and am SO glad we did.We didn't have a booking but the gentleman sat us down, and explained their process , their cellar and a little history.Every wine was delicious - we had 2 whites, 4 reds and the no label (which we ended up buying)There was no pressure to buy, lots of information and explanation about the wine in a beautiful setting, fireplace and great views.This winery isn't in the guide we had but we are so glad we stopped in. Wish we came here first on our tour.Stop in , you won't regret it!

My self and my wife visited Thomas Allen during Easter holiday, we liked the wine and amazing service and experience.

The best wines my friends and I have ever tasted. So smooth and clean. The Customer service is phenomenal and my friend who doesn’t drink wine is now converted! Can’t wait to visit again.

I love the Hunter Valley, lots of lovely wines, places and people. Thomas Allen was a cut above the rest I have ever experienced, beautiful setting, varied and different wines - pushed me out of my go to wine and I found some delicious wines to take home that would have usually bypassed. Definitely worth a visit, the team who run it are just gorgeous to talk to and so knowledgeable. If I could mark higher than a 5 I would! Thank you for a lovely tasting. X

Visited this winery on recommendation from a friend.John was kind enough to serve us even though we were not members.His knowledge of the wines and the region was excellent. His pointers on tending to my own vines was welcome.The wines were excellent.We signed up to be in the transit lounge hoping to be members soon.We would highly recommend this winery.

These guys are like a group of old friends running a winery because they love wine. By far the best wines I have had In the hunter so far (am taking some back to London).They vet who they let in for a tasting so they only share their wines with people genuinely passionate about wines.Had a great chat with John/Gary/John and am humbled by their genuine Passion compared with a lot of clinical style celllar doors these days.Great stuff, cheers guy's.

We turned up and enjoyed learning about wine and the tastes were wonderful. I have walked away wanting to learn more about red wine and by learn I mean taste.

We found this winery as we were driving so didn't have a booking - but the gentleman found us a seat outside and focused on our taste and preferences. It wasn’t a structured tasting like other wineries - more of a personalised experience with his wine recommendations, and some off menu wines also! Beautiful atmosphere to sit and enjoy the wine and the views - perfect.
