Wynyard Seafoods on the Wharf

I decided to grab an early dinner tonight after reading the great reviews on Google. Got there at 4.50pm with the intention of ordering and the coming back to pick up the take away and was told that they open at 5pm and to come back later (?). It surprised me as there was no reason to not write down the order and pass it on to the kitchen when it opened at 5pm but went along with it.Returned at 5.15pm...in hindsight, I should have followed gut instincts here but was keen for a seafood dinner...and hindsight is a beautiful thing. I ordered a pack, 2 calamaris and 1 scallop.If the rude customer service guy wasn't too busy chatting to someone else WHILE taking my order (with no apology for it either), he would have heard scallop and not salad. I also repeated my order specifying the scallop to ensure he got it correct but brushed me off. Asked if the fish could be grilled but told only crumbed or battered, fair enough.Surprise, surprise I open the pack on pickup to find no scallop, proceeded to walk back in and ask him about it. Then he proceeded to GRAB the calamari off my takeaway to confirm what I ordered. Never touch a customer's food if you're a counter guy and no, it doesn't matter if you own the joint.With my accent, what he heard was salad instead of scallop. Fair enough again, misunderstandings can happen although not my first rodeo ordering fish and chips and have lived in Melbourne 15 years. Proceeded to have a laugh over it with this team". I didn't want the salad

Long time since visiting Wynyard wharf and we were so delighted to find them open again! The most magnificent takeaway lunch today. Half dozen fried oysters in batter (the only way to eat them imo), fresh flake, salt and pepper calamari, and chips the way they should be be (crunchy on the outside and creamy inside). Thoroughly recommend :)

Harry Maclaren... You can't compare quality Australian seafood and chips to soggy, fat dripping English fare... Also you sound a bit jealous that we have Chicken Salt that a lot of people prefer... So please don't try and compare English seafood to the best seafood in the world....

Food was good. Boarfish was good. Tassie scallops is ok, there a strong smell. Both are served with thick fries. Eat it while its hot for better taste. Prawn additional 2.80 per piece, thick and tough.

Hubby had Pink Ling for the first time. Absolutely awesome. Great, friendly, quick service with a smile. Delicious chips too. So many choices.

Drove 45mins on a Sunday because we heard good things, went in to see what was on the menu at 1.30pm, went back to order lunch at 1.48pm told they had finished.....extremely disappointed....suggest you advertise your cooking finish hours if you are going to turn people away before closing time.

Delicious fish and chips with a generous serving, one of the best fish and chips I have had and the fish tasted very fresh with a light batter that wasn't oily at all.Good friendly service.
