Unique Homes are incompetent and dishonest.Thanks to Tamara for posting your review. I’m really so sorry for everything that you and your family are going through. I never usually post reviews about anything, but the team from Unique Homes ruined our lives for a year and reading Tamara’s review I feel so lucky we got rid of them when we did, as Tamara’s experience would have been ours too. This has prompted me to review our time working with them, in the hope it might save another family from the expense and heart ache. And for anyone currently battling with them, get yourself a good construction lawyer, and contact the QBCC for advice.We worked with Chris Garfoot for a year to design our 4 bed family home. The design phase was fraught with their mistakes. Every change required multiple emails and back and forth until it was eventually (although not always) implemented. Even after a year of working with them, we never reached a correct set of plans.At each important stage they would stop all work and increase the price of the contract. After agreeing to a few of these increases, we eventually realised that the build was going nowhere. The final straw was when they refused to submit the plans to the council for building approval, instead insisting we meet with them for a ‘without prejudice’ meeting where they could insist upon a higher contract price. Anyone considering working with them, or any other builder, please ensure your contract stipulates a time line for submission of building approval, as UH used this loophole and exploited it to try and get even more money out of us. Also make sure you get their contract checked by a construction lawyer -they contain many mistakes, all of which, be assured are of benefit to the builder, not the customer. And remember, the QBCC are there to help you.The only time we the owner, Jim Taylor, could be bothered to meet us was when he met us on site to come up with excuses as to why they couldn’t start work. None held up with the QBCC.Before agreeing to build with Unique Homes, please get them to give you the contact details of a happy customer. We never managed to get this, probably because they don’t exist.

I have had the pleasure of knowing Jim and the team for quite a while now. They are genuine people, who just know their stuff, based on many years experience.With construction in Australia going through considerable change at the moment, it's important to choose a builder who you can trust and who you know will be around for the long haul. Jim and the team fit this description every day of the week.They are fantastic to work with - highly recommend them to others.

From initial consultation with Chris to handover with the rest of the team, Unique achieved a result I couldn't be happier with. After having worked with architects and builders on other builds in the past, it was refreshing to have it all handled under the one roof. It made the whole process alot easier and the project actually came in on budget (a rarity dealing with builders!)

Exceptional building company that truly lives up to its name. Attention to detail is seamless. Very happy with the progress so far.

We bought one of their homes when it was 18 months old and have had water leak issues ever since. GCUH tried to fix but failed, after warranty expired they did not want anything to do with it. Not a well built home.

Absolutely disgraceful sales staff at their display home on the Gold Coast. Walked in with my kids with intention to express an interest but the lady had an issue with me taking a crying toddler through.Yes sorry my child was crying and I tried soothing him. But there is no need for you to belittle me over the situation.You weren't even busy.Obviously not a parent and no patience at all.Never recommend or consider

DO NOT BUILD WITH. We have a home built by them and after 4 years it is falling apart. The drive is all cracked. The roof has over 150 broken tiles, with leaking into the electrics. Rising damp around the entire house. The rendering is all cracked. The columns all leaks. The windows all leak. The mouldings fell apart. The warranty is worthless they refused to do anything to repair all the damage even with water coming through the electrics.

Home being renovated is a complete disaster and after over 2.5 years, not even at lock up stage. The wooden frame has been soaked with continual rain throughout that time - how will it fair in coming years? There is rarely anyone there working on the home, and when they do come, the place is rarely secured properly after they leave. Neighbours have constant mosquito issues from the stagnant pool, the place has been a muddy mess for months. Disgraceful. Meantime all the other houses in the areas - brand new builds from nothing - are going up quickly. Be warned!

Jim, Jesse & Tyrone were excellent to deal with, it's obvious that they have been in the industry for decades! Exceptional service, quality and outcomes. Highly recommended.
