This is okay, there's a nice grass area, toilets and a shelter as well as a BBQ but there's nicer places in the Dandenongs to have a picnic. Don't expect any real views here.

the loop from Tyson to Outlook and back via Chandler is about 7.8km is for avid hikers and not beginners . your elevation for the climb could be 300 m /1000 ft though gradual is hard on those with hiking fitness

Come for a barbecue stay for the view. The facilities aren't much, there is some newish built toilets which is s plus. But no play ground for kids and only a few barbecues. The real draw card here is the trails. I did the lyrebird trail from the bottom of the mountain to the picnic ground, it was intense but very rewarding. So if your looking for a challenge the park at the bottom and walk up, then walk back down and use one of yhe many barbecue facilities at the bottom instead.

Pleasant stop-off at the top of the Kokoda Memorial Walk, and great in the summer for a picnic. There's a few memorial stones, covered benches, open benches and toilet facilities. There's also a carpark for those who don't make it up the steps!

Nice place. There's little picnic area at the 'top' of the 1000 steps walk. Small parking area. Toilets and water facilities are available here. Few benches are available. Gates close at 6 pm. Fresh air. Good for family outing and can have a fun with a BBQ. Nature lovers can enjoy this place a lot.

Great picnic ground but we cannot do portable gas or charcoal BBQ. We ended up going somewhere else. I think no fire is allowed in the Dandenong areas. I hope this message helps other people to plan ahead.

Excellent picnic area. Very shady so you can enjoy even on a hot day. Has bbq, toilets, drinking water, benches and tables....Close by walking trails too... Kookaburras will steal your food while you are eating so be careful
