Caryota Book Exchange

Visited this book exchange recently, won’t be again. I read a lot of books and was suggested by a friend as a great place to go for books and a nice area out back to have a coffee. Yes out side area is quite nice, however the prices of the books are ridiculous, at $14..50 for one book ! yes I get $4 off my next book when I return it , but that’s still $10 a book. So no I won’t be returning will stick to Salvation Army stores etc around $4.00 a book or go to Winnellie 2nd hand book store , heaps of books all $5 each and I think $1 or $2 back when you return the book. Much better value.

Absolutely fantastic little book store, the kind you dream about finding! Sharon is very hands on and helpful, more than willing to help you find a specific title or browse at your own leisure.Three brightly lit, well labelled rooms of books, all categorised and obviously well maintained both in regards to shelving and condition. There is also a coffee machine that is reasonably priced, and little nooks and crannies to curl up with a book with. The outdoor courtyard is the culmination of this, with tables and chairs scattered comfortably around the place.Books can also be exchanged here for store credit, which lasts up to 6 months.10/10 the best book store I've come across since leaving home !!

A wonderful personal experience browsing the shelves! and just the place to buy presents for the grandchildren, now that most of them can read! I like to buy second-hand books for them for their birthdays as I hope it will instill in them the beauty of pre-loved books and the value of stories from the past. Most AMAZING service from hundreds of kilometers away! Sharon was extremely helpful, kind and determined to help me track down out-of-publication books I had been desperate to find. Not only did she offer me an excellent deal on postage as well as pack my purchased books impeccably for a very quick dispatch - the items themselves were of top notch quality that I've been enamored with them since they arrived! SO glad I'm on their database as I will be buying from them again - even if I'm on the other side of the country. Highly recommended :)

An Oasis of Delight for the discerning book-lover. LOVE IT !!!What a wonderful surprise to walk into !! This beautiful space has every genre one could dream of, all organised and the shop is so clean. The owner is lovely, and was happy to source the books she did not have in store for me. The courtyard is a tranquil space to have ones coffee & peruse ones books - all in all - Absolutely Fabulous !!!

Do not go to this shop, she isn't always around when you want to exchange books and the staff working for her can't do it. Then her books are over priced, as she prices books for $20 when you can get them brand new for $12 at kmart. Then when she goes exchange your book, she only gives you $3-$4 credit for books she sells for $20. Do not go to her go to Darwin book sellers all his books are $5 and worth it.

Absolutely loved Caryora Book Exchange, the atmosphere and vibe is so welcoming. With 3 amazing rooms filled with so many books! Sharon is so wonderful and happy to help if you need. Highly recommend visiting ☺️

Such a wonderful place filled with variety of books. Great selection and the owner is lovely and helpful!

This is a hidden gem! My daughters and I spent hours browsing the wide (well organized) selection of books and reading them in the various nooks (while I had a delicious coffee). We left with several books each and will return to exchange them per the store's great program. Sharon, the owner is a delight an so very helpful. I highly recommend Caryota!
