Docklands Parcel Locker

I love using the Australia Post parcel locker service. The Docklands locker on Bourke Street is open and accessible 24 hours a day, which is convenient for anyone who typically works the hours the post office is open. Before parcel lockers it was quite inconvenient to make a time to go to the post office to collect parcels during normal business hours. Now whatever time is convenient for me I can swing past the locker and pick up my parcels. With the risk of parcels being stolen when left my the postie at my door or in the letter box I can have confidence to order expensive items off the internet and I know it'll be there when I arrive to pick it up. I like that the Australia Post app has a feature that brings up a barcode that can be scanned at the parcel locker terminal that means the parcel locker can be opened without having to type in a long code into the touchscreen (which can sometimes be a little dodgy, they are far less sensitive than smart phone screens). One downside is that once the parcel arrives at the locker one usually has only around 48 hours to collect it. After 48 hours the pacel is then directed to the local post office for collection. The notification service is very good, I get an SMS and a notification from the Australia Post app which works very well. Once I went to collect a parcel and the computer terminal attached malfunctioned and became unresponsive. I was directed to ring a number and spoke to a helpful operator and she organised for a technician to reboot the system the following day. I was fairly impressed by the response from Australia Post, and I was even given an extra 24 hours amnesty to collect my parcel that I did not have to ask for, and I was notified by SMS. All in all I congratulate Australia Post for their forward thinking and integrating their services with the 21st century quite well. I will continue using Australia Post parcel locker service and I am quite happy with how it operates. 5 stars.
