Known as both Yahoo Hillcrest and Yahoo Boronia Heights (it's just on the Hillcrest side of the border between the two suburbs). Whichever your preferred reference, it's still a bit of a hike for me which is the main reason I've not been until this visit - had a church camp/retreat up at Mt Tamborine and decided to go the back way so I could swing by Ya Hoo for lunch on the way. Lo and behold who should we see upon our arrival but another church family with the same idea! This place has old school Chinese restaurant feels and the pricing was fantastic though I'm told rose a bit shortly after my visit in September. We ordered from the lunch menu where most of the meals were $11.50:* Crispy chicken with fried rice* Marmite chicken with fried rice* Pork spare ribs in plum sauce with steamed rice* Fried kwai teow* Butter oat prawns (without shell), $24.90* Spring roll 4pc $6.50* Long soup $6.50The prawns are from the dinner menu but we saw our friends on the other table order one so a friend in my party decided he might as well try it since he travelled so far to meet us there for lunch. I'm pretty sure as long as they have stock on hand they'll cook it if you ask. It's pretty good! The usual lunch menu options were also all solid and satisfying though tending on the salty side. I think they represent very good value and if this shop were closer to me I could see myself going often.

Definitely Hidden gem in Hillcrest. It helps Satisfying your Chinese/ Malaysian food craving and they did well.Salted egg chicken: in the saltier side even though not much sauce.Fish curry: curry was good and topping were generous. They got some different menus that’s definitely worth trying for a chinese/malaysian restaurant. Will come back !Family friendly place, can be busy at times but I mostly walk-in and it is still ok.Price was standard, $30-$40 for 2 ppl

Food was delicious specially stired fried section. All stried fried got wok hay flavour. Some food needs little bit more salt or light soy sauce (this is my preference). However, we were waiting almost 30 mins for food. It is a bit wait time but it is worthy it.

Not sure whats wrong with Queenslanders taste buds but I don't rate their food.Very watered down and lack of meat in the dishes.Seems to have a taste of frozen food warmed up.Plastic found in our pork dish as well.Would not return sorry.1 star for food and 3 stars for service.Meat in the middle for 2 overall.

Best Chinese food in the area and are embarrassed that we haven’t reviewed before. No headaches after this tasty Chinese. We really like that you can actually identify the vegetables. Usually have takeaway but have had the dine-in banquet previously - extremely good. When we try other local Chinese restaurants we always regret that we didn’t head to Yahoo.

This restaurant offers authentic Malaysian cuisine at very affordable and reasonable prices. It is a small to moderate sized restaurant. Perfect for special occasions and homey enough for a casual family meal.Every dish we ordered was full of flavour and texture. We probably should have ordered some lighter meals instead but in any event the dishes weren't too heavy.A few areas I would critique this restaurant is that the white rice we ordered wasn't hot enough.Staff were very friendly however we also felt a bit pressured by staff constantly asking if they could take our dishes away even though there were still food in some of the dishes.Cost-wise, as mentioned above is very affordable and cheap. Everyone in our group was full at the end of the night and when we split the bill amongst ourself, our dinner was around $19 per person!Tidy and authentic place. Highly recommended.

Was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food they served.Cereal Prawn - Very authentic version. It's the closest to what you will find in Singapore. Albeit a little on the saltier side. Can reduce salt and add abit more sugar, chili and curry leaves! But 9/10 !Marmite chicken with fried rice - the party enjoyed this dish! Fried rice is very Cantonese, rice grains are harder than the ones you find in the other Chinese restaurants. I prefer the cantonese version! So this is on point ! 9/10Fried chicken with fried rice - flavourful chicken! Fried rice review, as above. 9/10Black bean chicken with white rice - decent review from my friend. 8/10Char Kway Teow - this was the cherry on top. Wok hei was perfectly executed. A little on the salty spectrum. I love salt. But this was really salty. I think it will be more flavourful with more black sauce. This is quite possibly the best rendition of char kway teow in Brisbane.Overall experience - 10/10Will be back to try out the dinner dishes. It's quite a drive for us, so we're not sure when we'll be back.

First time here and definitely not the last! Authentic Malaysian/Singaporean flavours - particularly the sizzling belacan tofu and salted egg chicken, both strong flavours were presented very well. Garlic and ginger& shallots vegetables were on point too. Eager to try more items on the impressive menu. The young lady waiting tables provided great service despite how busy the restaurant was. Convenient location and parking too. Kudos to the team!
