Wonthaggi Wind Farm

Great Place for 30 minutes stay. Local told me open both gate and close behind you and you can go side. Don't stress and enjoy view.

Wonderful to be able to get close to these huge turbines.You can walk or drive your car right up to being within a safe distance of six massive clean electricity generators. These turbines provide electricity to more than 6,000 homes in the region.When you enter the area, make sure you shut the gate behind you. You will most likely be welcomed by kangaroos and emus as you travel along the gravel track to the turbines.Yes, it's windy. Yes, it can be loud. But it's impressive.Enjoy reading the signs and marvelling at the way these huge white blades on towers turn mother nature into power.A great visit for children and adults alike.You can also enjoy walking alongside the turbines on a track which can take you to the beach.

I was bit skeptical to drive through the gates.I didn’t find any local whom I could ask if I could just drive off.On the way to wind farm, there are several spots from where all 6 wind turbines are visible.Stop there and take a quick view before driving all the way to this spot

Couldn't access the farm by car, GPS stops about 2 to 3 km, I walked 2/3 of the distance via the Baxter's Wetland road and ended up with 2 roadsOne goes to a lake with birdsOther one appeared too long with young kids...

Accessible up to the closest wind turbine. Quick access from Wonthaggi, but does require 1.5km of gravel road. You need to open and close 2 doors when passing through the road as well.

Get here though two gates along Campbell Street. It is OK to bring your car. This is also the start of the walk to Baxters Beach
