Uncomfortable shopping experience - always followed and watched by staff. Stopped carrying a handbag with me but it still occurs. No longer a shop for those in need - 'name brands' priced to suit the trending buy second hand/ethical etc market.Occasionally find gems but really need to hunt through racks, but as mentioned above it's no longer enjoyable when made to feel like a criminal

Today I went shopping in my favourite store in Gladstone. But..when I checked on the price of a hand bag hanging by the counter ..Well you can imagine my surprise and horror when the price tag read $250. Really is that what the kind soul who doated that bag expected. For you to put it in your charity shop and ask that much money that your real customers can't do any thing but step back in horror and discomfort and say no thank you thats not for me. That's what happens in boutiques and your customers don't bother going in there. Why don't you open a flash store where you can ask top dollar for the donated goods you receive and save us the real money spinners in your store the inbarrasment of not being able to afford the goods from the salves.

12th April 2023Dear Salvation Army,I am putting in a complaint about Jarvis (I think it was) the manager at salvation army in Gladstone.I would like to express how I felt today going to my local salvation army, I was on the hunt for a 80s prom dress for a hen do I have coming up.I approached a staff member and asked where the fitting rooms are for me to try something on and was told that there isn't any. I asked why and was told it was due to theft of items which I understand. I then asked if I can return an item if it didn't fit me as I am a new mother and I am breastfeeding so something that would fit me doesn't at the moment. I was told to ask the manager which is when I met Jarvis the Manager of the salvation army in Gladstone. I asked Jarvis if I could please put the items over my clothes to see if they fit, he said no very rudely. I asked how am I meant to know if it fits me and you have no return policy? He then said I don't want to talk to you get out my face". I was completely shocked and I said how can you talk to a customer like this I am just asking you a simple question. He then continued to be rude to me and said I don't want to talk to you.I asked for his name and told him I am putting in a complaint which he said "do it" and showed me his badge all cocky. I left the store crying I was trying to explain to him that I am breastfeeding and I need to try things on at the moment but he didn't want to listen to a word I was saying. I have never felt so insulted and hurt. How is a policy in place where you cant try items on or have a return policy for clothing?I would like an outcome about this matter as I have never felt so upset about leaving a store.Thank you"

Ignore the fake reviews that say they are good. They are money hungry grubs, the real money changers in the house of god. Of all the generous donations given by the locals of Gladstone I would say perhaps 10 percent is given back to the needy. The rest is wasted on large brand new buildings they have behind their old shed. They keep the old shed to have the appearance of being thrift and helping people but in reality they could build a 10 story thrift store and demolition the old shed but keeping up appearance to keep the money flowing. The bearded female priest and her lard ball bf enjoy sitting out the back in one of their buildings enjoying the day while volunteers are busy slaving to make them money. Everything they donate even food is donated and they don't pay a cent. Truly this is not a church of old.

Some of the prices are a little. Out of reality for a second hand store. You can buy the same type of things brand new down town for what they are asking 2ndHand .But I did meet David down there

This place always has great stuff in it. Absolute treasure trove for clothes. I got some stuff here that's better than what I could have even bought locally brand new. Team here is really great too. Highly recommended!

Great store but was a bit disappointed, after having a full basket of clothes, to find out they don't have changing rooms. Defeats the purpose of going op shopping.
