Blinkbonnie Equestrian Centre

I have been at Blinkbonnie for just over 2 years and have loved my time there. I started riding lessons 2 years ago as a complete novice. My instructor Alyssa was always kind and made me feel comfortable, even when it was taking me longer than most to get to grips with some techniques.I started leasing Big M (who I was having lessons on) after about 12 months. I literally knew nothing about horse care when I started but Christine was there all along the way to explain how and why we do things a certain way.Leasing itself was brilliant and I came to think of Big M as mine however it did require you to dedicate your time to it. It is a great way to build up your knowledge, understanding and appreciation for how much time is involved in looking after a horse. It’s not something that you have to do daily, but I tried to go 3 times a week. Opening times were flexible enough to allow me to go up at weekends and after work.The other good thing was that you knew if you couldn’t make it to Blinkbonnie for any reason that your horse would be looked after anyway.Christine cares so much for all of her horses and I will very much miss it there.

I have Been attending blinkbonnie for 3 months now.I had not riden for a couple of years, so had 6-7 valuable private lessons.Now I'm in the beginner group,learning from one and other,becoming one with the horses,understanding how they think, making us better riders. Its a friendly, safe environment,with proffessional, helpfull staff, and healthy happy horse....

My eldest daughter started group lessons at Blinkbonnie a couple of weeks after her 10th birthday. She LOVES attending, adores the horses and ponies, and really likes and respects her teachers.As a parent, I appreciate how well run the lessons are, and how kind and understanding the instuctors and horses are.Riding has given my child additional confidence in her body, and has improved her concentration and focus. I can see Blinkbonnie becoming a frequently visited place for all of my girls in years to come.

I had only one lesson here a few years ago. I'm an experienced trail rider and have also owned my own horses years ago. I wanted to improve my cantering skills in the arena as opposed to the open spaces! I enjoyed the lesson by a British girl but being an older adult I felt a bit out of place as mostly children here. Facilities ok but no indoor and quite ugly surroundings which probably don't matter that much if the horses and instructors are ok. It was also very pricey compared to a couple of others I found which also had better facilities. In any case, I didn't go back again after one lesson mainly due to the expense - $40 more expensive for a private lesson than one other that I found which was better anyway!

I had about a year here before moving to my current riding school and I absolutely loved the horses but I left because i felt i was learning as much as i could have. I was pressured into things by my instructor and felt so scared to go. I came home crying and was scared to ride. When i was riding i just wanted to get off. That was only by one instructor whom I wont name but I was bullied. Now moving to my new riding school i am jumping high and work there and feel most welcomed.

My daughter and I leased Banner for groundwork as a good learning curve to possibly getting a horse. We both learnt a lot and gained confidence in handling a horse. We had lessons fortnightly with Christine who is focussed on safety, knowledge and an enjoyable experience for both persons and horse.
