We stayed in the Chalet for 3 nights with my 2yrs old. The place is very authentic and we loved the straw house built by Andy. It was very clean with all the kitchen and bathroom essentials. We were warmly welcomed by Andy who spoke French with my dad. The kids can pet all their dreaming animals:donkeys, alpacas, guinea pigs, ducks... All run freely and are very friendly.

Straw bale cottage that is dog friendly. Friendly livestock and quiet out of the way location, but good fot Margaret River!

Absolutely great! Very neat clean and comfortable chalet. Appreciated the warm welcome on arrival, Andy already had our fire place going, warming up our cottage. Thanks Andy. Loved all the animal life around us and really enjoyed feeding them all, especially the donkeys (sorry if we spoilt them a bit. Fed them lots if carrots and appels) Next stay soon garanteed!!

Seperate but not remote, we stayed in the dome and would happily recommend it.

We've stayed at both The Dome and The Chalet and had a fantastic time. The houses are both very quaint and are hand-made from strawbales by the owner, they're a bit rough around the edges so don't expect 5-star luxury. The bed was comfy, shower was good, the kitchen was well stocked with utensils (we found everything we needed to make pasta etc), and it has a fireplace which is a great drawcard! Andy the owner and host is very chilled out with few rules, as long as you're respectful of his property. We brought our dog and Andy requested that pets stay on lead when outside as there's ducks and peacocks that roam the property freely. The paddock with donkeys and alpacas was right next door and we had a great time feeding and patting them. Overall it was a lovely stay and we'll be back!

We stayed 6 nights to explore the Margaret River area. The owner, Andy, had made sure to heat the wood fire place for us when we arrived late in the evening. We loved the outdoor component of the farm, our 16 month old daughter had an amazing time running around and feeding the animals: donkeys, alpacas, Guinea pigs, ducks, her new best friend Mr peacock. We also saw some kangaroos running around. The cottage is charmingly decorated and has the basic needs. It's located conveniently about 15 minutes from both Margaret River as well as the beach. Boranup forest is even closerby. The owner Andy is helpful and laid back. He also created another, slightly larger house at his land, the dome, that is also worth checking out.We are very much considering coming back to the area as its just a very great place for nature and food and we would definitely stay at Birchfield again. Highly recommended for those with young children and those that like nature.
