Unacceptable customer service. Car booked for 1230pm, unfortunately ETA was 1250 due to traffic out of Sydney. Without a phone call from employee closed shop at 1245 with a sign returning at 2pm, blamed me for not advising we’d be late. Understandable if out of opening hours but 20 minutes! Disgusting! Poor attitude and very rude employee. Will not return.

UPDATED: 667458470. Also uploaded the photo for reference. We noticed when we collected our hire car there was an awful smell in the vehicle. As the office was closing I was unable to go back and have a discussion with a staff member about it, I presumed once the windows were down, it would be less obvious and would fade. I purchased an air freshener which subsided the smell slightly and we took off on our two week holiday. We returned home and emptied the entire car and eventually finding what was leading to the smell. An old mouldy (possible) sandwich in the back pocket of the front passenger’s seat. Our daughter for 2 weeks was sitting right behind that seat and inhaling that. We returned the car and complained to the staff member on duty, not only about that but the overall cleanliness of the vehicle which was sub par at best. Barely receiving an apology from him, we decided to contact Hertz directly. They got back to us rather quickly stating they would try to arrange some sort of refund. When they called back, I missed the call but a voicemail was left stating a refund would be issued. Tried to return the call to find out how much and what that would entail. No reply. I rang 5 times and left multiple voicemails and nothing. I have since tried to call Hertz again and even submitted another online enquiry to which no one has got back to me on. Hertz is supposed to be one of the best companies to go to for hire cars. $2000 for 2 weeks, you’d expect some quality. They had no hesitation deducting a further $100 from my card due to tolls, $35 of which is an “administration fee” which we were never informed of.

The service from Sam at Cessnock was fantastic.He was helpful, friendly & great customer service.The car was presented well & he followed up with phone call to ensure all was good. Great employee.

Hire a fuso 3T truck with lift to help move a family members home, from Sydney for two days. Total cost $489. 27/5/2022Then $190 is deducted from account 5/6/2022 for tolls with no warning or notification. Never anywhere does it say you must bring an e-tag, and we would be happy to pay if we had notice sent before automatic deductions, very poor performance and even worse communication on this companies behalf, on a family that lives week to week. If I could give zero stars I would. AVOID AT ALL COSTS, $700 over 48hrs be cheaper getting a removalist, do not be fooled by these people!

Sam was excellent and a great advertisement for Hertz service. Nothing was too much trouble and the vehicle was well prepared and ready to go. Give Sam a raise, you couldn't find a better or more helpful employee.

I recently hired a Rav 4 from Hertz/Thrifty at Cessnock. I was so fortunate to meet Sam to organize this for me. I can't speak highly enough about Sam, he was so easy to talk with & advise what I needed to do. I would rate the whole deal as 10 out of 10! Well done to Sam for his wonderful Customer Service skills & I would certainly recommend my experience to family & friends! Keep up the great work Sam!

Booked a car for 3 days but returned it after 1 day. Was charged the full amount, although I was never told this would be the case. $380 for 1 days rental? What a chode of a company.
