Cape Liptrap Lighthouse
Great views of the spectacular coastline and Wilson's Promontory in the distance from the lookouts at the base of the lighthouse.A couple of picnic tables are available. No access inside the lighthouse, or beach access.Access is via a fairly smooth gravel path about 250 metres from the Carpark.Note that the last 8km or so of the access road is unsealed and is often rough and can be slippery depending on the weather.Good place to watch the sunset.I've also seen echidas and wombats in the carpark area and along the access road as well as kangaroos and wallabies along the road.

Easy walk from the car park to the lighthouse. Would be a spectacular view of the sea (bass strait) on a clear day. Was rainy when I was here... But it's ok. Got to see a part of history. This lighthouse first blinked/ flashed in 17th Nov 1913

It's a comfortable five minute walk along an easy to walk path with a beautiful view once you get there.

The views are spectacular, we saw seals and dolphins swimming. The walk is very short to reach the light house which is quite small. Take binoculars and great views of the beaches and cliffs.

Cape Liptrap stands upon a rocky cliff top, on a solitary part of the South Gippsland coastline, warning ships of the rocks in treacherous Bass Strait. The first Cape Liptrap lighthouse was established in 1913. It was a 2.1 metre steel tower with an acetylene light. As a keeper was never stationed at Cape Liptrap, it is really the first automatic Commonwealth funded light to be put into service. The current lighthouse was built in 1951 in cast concrete, and is octagonal in shape. It was converted to mains power in 1970.Very windy and cold area. Many parking stops available. But the road to the light house is not sealed about 8km .

Plenty parking 5 min walk from car park to lighthouse. Decked lookout just before you get to lighthouse. Smaller lighthouse but nonetheless worth checking out. Beautiful Ocean views. Definitely add to your things to do when exploring the prom.

Getting here was a bit difficult with the unsealed corrugated gravel road. Was okay driving with a small car but be careful as the roads can be slippery and rough. Got the best of both worlds visiting here as drizzling a bit but rain cleared for sunny ish weather

Great hidden spot..hardly anyone when we arrived. The drive to the lighthouse is on a dusty gravel road off the main road.Plenty of car spots available.Good photo spots.2 picnic benches available near the lighthouse.

Worth a visit when in the area or on the way to Walkerville.I wouldn't drive a long distance just for the lighthouse.Actual lighthouse is quite small but picturesque with quality views toward the Prom.Only a short walk from the carpark.

Cape Liptrap Lighthouse
It was cold, wet and windy on the day I chose to visit. The path was almost blocked by large puddles, but the view of the lighthouse, the rocky cliffs and expansive ocean made it all worthwhile. The views come at no cost, as it is in a public park.
