Great place to camp what a spectacular place, everything was clean including picnic tables, toilets and general grounds.Nice little creek to cool off from the sun, good access and plenty to see and do for a few days. My wife and kids had a great time. Great memories made

Bit out of the way, and dirt road needs a grading after the rains, but the camp site is excellent with grassed areas (not dirt).Couple of earth toilets and a river near by and hiking to your content.

Welcome to Mother Nature’s amphitheatre. Dramatic sandstone cliffs and proud eucalypt trees make for a majestic backdrop at this beautiful, grassy, flat campground by the Wolgan river.Pitch your tent and enjoy a picnic under the trees before heading out to explore the tracks, tunnels and ovens of the historic shale oil ruins nearby, or cool off with a paddle or lilo in the river. There are easy walks for taking in the dramatic scenery. Enjoy a fascinating journey back into the past on Newnes Industrial Ruins walk, and kids will love visiting the luminous Glow Worm tunnel, just a short drive away. You can also camp on the other side of the river; however you can only access this camping area by foot or 4WD across the ford near the Newnes Hotel.Newnes campground closed due to landslide at Wolgan GapNewnes campground, including Newnes Industrial Ruins, is closed until further notice due to road collapse and continuing land slip risk at Wolgan Gap following recent heavy rain.

Finally got here, it’s worth it. Spent 4 nights and loved the walks, exploring the Industrial Ruins and the scenery was superb. The Little Capertee Campground is accessed with an easy to negotiate creek crossing. Coming into Newnes is about 10kms of Unsealed Road which had a couple of potholes from recent wet weather.

My favourite campground. Very peaceful and simple.Nothing like sitting around a campfire while you gaze at the stars! No showers but the drop toilets were very clean. There is a beautiful cliff face surrounding the grounds and plenty of wildlife. We woke up to kangaroos everywhere. There are lots of great walks close by. The ruins are very interesting - was fun to imagine what life was like in the old times.

Great spot for family camping. Has 2x drop toilet. A creek and river so that you can collect water for washing (but bring own drinking water). There are a few picnic tables and fire pits, and a few other scattered fire pits around. Setup on the south side for morning sun. Close to the Ruins walk. Just up the road from Newnes Hotel where a few items can be purchased if needed e.g. firewood.Just a side note, I had no phone coverage here (with Telstra), great IMO, but some might consider that an issue.

Easy to find. Big space with no marked sites. A seperate area with 4WD access only. The road in is a bit rough but fine for 2WD. Drop toilets available. Shower available at the hotel for $5 which is 10-15 walk from the campsite. Super interesting walks around. Glow worm tunnel a must - allow 2-2.5 hrs.

Recently stayed at the Newnes campground called Little Capertee. This was due to the river crossing and other campground options being gated and locked. Little Capertee was still a great option for the night. It features a wide open area for setup, several fire pit rings and two drop style toilets. Would recommend if you have a large group wanting to camp together.

Beautiful hidden gem surround by sandstone cliffs with a creek crossing. Lots of kangaroos jumping around. The place is peaceful & unique. Also, the scenery from top of the valley is just amazing. The road to get there is very bumpy though, SUV is recommended. Also no reception available.
