Orana Steiner School

Orana Steiner School is a perfect fit for my daughter. She's year 6 and started in year 1. We're looking forward to joining the high school campus next year. This is where the Steiner curriculum all through primary school now starts to pay dividends... getting her ready to stand and succeed on her own 2 feet. The teachers are amazing and so worth their weight in gold. All through the past 2 years, they have been supportive and extremely helpful - home schooling sucks for anybody who is inclined to teach, yet our Orana teacher has been flexible, adaptable and agile. Would recommend this school without hesitation.

School Has be harder and kinda worse recently With my teacher Emily leaving, She was by far the BEST teacher I've Ever had no one else could even come close, I wish she could have stayed I'm still kind of sad about her leaving She was part of what made this school Great! The school can be as Nice as you want, But Its the teacher which make a school. Its Still a good School Also I'm in year 7 and I couldn't imagine going anywhere elseAlso That 2 star review about stairs THEIR ISN'T ANY STAIRS ANYWHERE! I don't know what that was about

Will not recommend this school if you would like modern practices this school is NOT for your kids. Very old school, they push art onto everything even science - its good in a way. But to prepare for future schooling e.g university it really disadvantaged me. I had no idea how to use a computer properly nor do I know how to use virtual classrooms. I was fortunate enough to move to a better school - oh I also did not mention. Yes racism exists in this place too so I am glad I didn’t stay in this place too long. I would recommend to go to Trinity School or Mary Mackillop.

Our experience has only been with early childhood so far, but we have been incredibly happy. The school grounds (primary and high) are absolutely beautiful. Staff are lovely. The teachers have been absolutely wonderful. I've had the chance to volunteer some time in the canteen and shop, and I appreciate all the thought that goes into these aspects of the school experience for families. The canteen food by Murray is excellent comparative to the processed rubbish in most schools (certainly when I went through school!). He makes so much food from scratch, it's impressive. The school shop brings a wealth of truly beautiful resources that enrich. The annual Spring Fair is such a wholesome, community oriented experience.Yes, since COVID, there has been a lot of staff changes at the school on all levels. There are some teachers whom I do not think are Steiner qualified (yet), but they still teach to the curriculum. The school, by Steiner school standards, is doing very well academically at this time, comparative to the ACT and Australia.It is a big financial investment, and that is a barrier for many understandably. But it is worth every dollar if you can make it work.

Orana Steiner School in Canberra provides a beautiful community for children to learn and grow. The curriculum is deeply intertwined with stories and creativity through all aspects from science, english, maths and history. Art and music are an integral part of learning, and while the structure of the lessons is quite different to mainstream schooling, the learning is enduring.

Our children are currently in the Early Childhood Program.We have nothing but positive things to say about this beautiful school and could not be happier that this is the environment our children are attending each day.The teacher are amazing, and in our experience go above and beyond to not only support the academic development of the student, but foster a strong readiness, desire and passion to learn. The Early Childhood program promotes children to discover the world through their own personal experiences and also nurtures and encourages meaningful relationships.The school and it’s grounds are incredibly beautiful.Our children love it and so do we.

Love this school! We’ve had our kids there for 11 years and wouldn’t change a thing. The teachers really care about the students, the curriculum is challenging, creative, and fun, and the students are treated like individuals, respected, and encouraged to think differently. There is a strong sense of community and belonging that extends beyond the child and it’s a bonus that the school grounds and buildings are beautiful.

Our three kids went through Orana from kindergarten through to Year 12. They received an excellent well-rounded education but more than that they were taught about being good humans and how to think critically. Threaded through their education was an appreciation of beauty, creativity and compassion. The Steiner philosophy and pedagogy develops the whole child to be able to meet the challenges of a complex and changing world.

Our children went to this school throughout their schooling (14years) and it was place they always were made to feel safe by their teachers. The school ethos is community and this was what drew us to the school. Our children have come through there schooling well rounded young people with fond memories. Dedicated teachers are at the heart of this school and every person employed there makes it a special place. Excellent academic achievement was achieved in both my children's years bench marked against other schools in the ACT. Thank you for helping us shape our children. Would highly recommend this school

This school really is fantastic!The teachers are amazing, so nurturing and caring, especially in the Early Childhood area with all of the little children starting school for the first time.The campus is a beautiful environment for all of the students.I really appreciate all of the work that goes in to making this a wonderful place for children to learn and grow.
