I was pretty disappointed that whoever worked on my car just helped themselves to about $20 in gold coins in my car (for parking meters). On the other hand an all round decent mechanic that does the job. Just don't leave spare change in your cars compartments.

Went in for general servicing and was charged heavily for all aspects of the service - Eg. $95 ex gst for a throttle body clean is a prime example which is a squirt of throttle body cleaner ($10-$25 per can and a 2 min job) and a wipe with a rag... The service was $800 more than I had been told to anticipate and I was not notified at all which I find extremely rude and somewhat dishonest.The very next day after my service there was a hole in my radiator (the back of the radiator in the side and top which is next to impossible to happen by itself so a little suspicious) which I could not afford to have fixed as I just spent my savings on the expensive service which was more than I was quoted I might add (I know a little about cars so I always ask mechanics to call me before performing any additional work outside the reason my car was there so I can approve/arrange to get the work done later if necessary. My instructions were of course ignored which I have found is a widely used strategy in the industry unfortunately). Long story short, I ended up doing the head gasket in my car that week which could not be avoided as I am on the road for work and needed to earn money to get the car fixed etc...I returned to SYPC to repair the head gasket (one week after my service) and when I picked up the car, the cost again, was $700 more than I had been quoted. I was told that he 'forgot the injectors' which was apparently something that must be done with the head gasket which I found both odd and infuriating as this was the second time I had been 'stung' in 2 weeks.After skimming over the detailed invoice I saw things that had been done that very week before which would have certainly been un-necessary like throttle body clean $95 ex. gst again. I raised this with him on the spot and he wiped off some of the charges which were clearly not going to pass again considering I was again under-quoted and the fact my car had been to his very shop the week before for a service. After looking at the work when I got home I noticed he had not even replaced the worn bushes on the radiator mounts which really pissed me off because this should always be done when a radiator is replaced and it is a part I assume comes with the new radiator! I could also smell the car was running rich which I questioned him about and he claimed this was a normal smell after a head gasket was replaced. This is utter rubbish... The car was not tuned correctly or at all after the head gasket replacement.I will note that this mechanic also told me my 'timing belt is about to go' which I would be insane to believe frankly. My next service I will have another mechanic look at it like a friend of mine who also used SYPC until receiving a didgy diagnosis for a transmission which was confirmed by another mechanic (I only found this out unfortunately after discussing my experience with a friend who also used to use SYPC until being told his transmission was on it's way out. Another mechanic confirmed for him that a part had been installed backwards which was making the sound the mechanic was referring to).Although at the start I felt I had found a good, honest mechanic (I have been to SYPC before the above experiences and although under-quoted as usual, they seemed thorough and honest) I now feel this is a very shady and dishonest operation they are running in an affluent suburb which makes this reak of.Make up your own mind - I certainly won't be going back but my best advice if you do end up there is to make sure you know what needs to be done and how much it will cost before they perform the work and definitely get a second opinion if they tell you any expensive work needs to be done!!!
