ACH Group Residential - Kapara

I have been a resident at Kapara for more than 4 years and if I had a choice I would NOT live here. The food is horrible and management are incapabke of hiring someone who knows the simple task of how to toast a crumpet.

My late grandfather was there after the War as a patient but died several years later. His daughter and grand daughter had visited him in the soldiers ward. At a very young age,I felt scared. The soldier who was opposite to my grand dad,that soldier had a false leg and we both walked out of the room and out into the fresh air. My gran dad used to smoke his pipe and I remember him when he used to take me from day care and he then he picked me up. I still remember him in that ward many years ago. His name was Enock Smith. He served in WW1 as a soldier.

I am a registered nurse and working with Gribbles now HealthscopeI visited many times to Kapara residents for blood tests ect, and was always impressed with the care residents are givenI am still employed at health scope and am looking for some short time respite for my husband.Gladys holland

My Mother has lived at Kapara high care for almost 2 years and I visit very regularly. I previously worked as a Registered Nurse with over 30 years Nursing experience including in aged care facilities. The facitlity is well designed and attractive with single ensuite rooms which are quite spacious. However the attention to personal care leaves a lot to be desired. My 89 yr old Mother is incontinent of both and requires regular toileting and personal hygiene. Every time I visit, Mum needs personal hygiene attention as she has been doubley incontinent and potentially sitting in a soiled pad for quite some time. The staff are usually prompt in assiting Mum, change pad and clothing if I ask when visiting. The fees are expensive and the ratio of RN/EN to carer appears to be low.
