Tania Djipalo Gestalt Psychotherapy, Counselling and Sandplay

Tania is the most empathetic and caring therapist I have ever seen, and I’ve seen around 20 over the years. She cares. Genuinely. Deeply. Her techniques of symbol work and sand play are surprisingly effective at accessing the unconscious and frequently move me to tears, and have allowed me to embody my true self repeatedly which I thought I had lost forever. Through her I discovered that the phrase “victim mentality” is lacking empathy and dismissive of what’s really going on - that there are parts of me who were traumatised and simply felt that no one cared. Well, Tania cared, and taught me how to be my own caring adult and witness to those parts pain, so I could move past the belief that I lived in an uncaring world and was a victim. Only then could I truly take responsibility for my life in the present and begin to leave the victim mentality behind. But ultimately it’s not about her “system” - it’s her as a therapist that is outstanding. Whether in person or via video call, I got the same benefit. If you’re looking for a great therapist, I’d say look no further.

I was sceptical about seeking outside help but Tania has been a godsend for me. She has walked with me through the hardest part of my life so far and I can not imagine having been able to do it without her. Before seeing Tania I felt overwhelmed, frustrated, struggling and misunderstood. I was 16 months into motherhood, had had a traumatic birth, overcome milk supply issues and was completely in love but exhausted from caring for my baby. I felt like my husband didn't understand what I was going through and I didn't know how to pull myself out of strong reactivity and emotional outbursts to connect with him more. Tania held space for me with compassion and non-judgement, guiding and trusting me to look within to find the answers I needed. She helped me tune into sensations in my body and gently provided tools for me to experiment with. Often our sessions started easily, as a friendly chat, but then she would help me tune into what was happening for me and the magic would happen through the depth of empathy she provided. It enabled me to feel truly heard and then heal. I was often surprised by what came up and the links to my childhood. Becoming a mother brought up so much for me and I'm so grateful I found Tania to help me process it all, ultimately improving my relationship and my parenting.

I saw Tania at a very low time in my life and from the moment I laid eyes on her, I knew she was the person I needed. She is kind, gentle and extremely empathetic. I was reluctant to try the sand play and figurine therapy initially but surprisingly found it very therapeutic and helpful. I can’t recommend Tania enough. She is amazing!!
