Working with Martin Lilford on a number of museum projects was a very rewarding experience. He has developed a range of interpretive proposals that have been accepted by the clients on generous as well as limited budgets. The resulting exhibitions have exceeded expectations in many cases. Martin has brought a creative, solid and sensible approach to the design process, and is very good at communicating with clients. His skills includes conceptual and 3D design, graphic design and production and hands on exhibits. He can also build to a high standard some exhibition components, such as small showcases cases and object supports.

On a recent visit to Melbourne, I was very impressed by the style and craftsmanship@Lilford Smith Design. Their furniture design is simple, modern and functional. The designer shows a deep understanding of materials in relation to function, and most important of all, aesthetics. Also, the designer is very friendly and easy to talk to. If you are interested in furniture design with quality and contemporary style, it is a worthwhile visit.

Some of the most impressive and memorable exhibitions / displays over the last decade at Melbourne Museum have been designed by Lilford Smith: Ancient Egypt, Hatchings (dinosaurs), Mesopotamia, Great Wall, for example. Engaging narrative design (they know how to tell a story), great flow, quality craftsmanship, clarity of concept, interpretatively challenging... Also good with designing and executing bespoke furniture.
