Great club and community. Facilities are excellent and there's attention to detail in everything taught and practiced. Both Masters are incredibly knowledgeable, supportive and have made my return to Martial Arts an enjoyable one.

I tried many other martial arts before landing on Hapkido. When doing a Taekwondo class they expected me to kick perfectly straight away like entering in a competition. Entered an Aikido club and was ignored. As soon as I arrived at Melbourne Hapkido I was welcomed and had a good talk about Hapkido and my training. Did a try-out and that was enough, I joined straight away and have been doing Hapkido for a few months now. Hapkido has it all. The instructors teach to my strengths, I like that, helping to build my confidence. The small classes are wonderful, I am amazed others have not found this place yet. The club is very family friendly, the kids doing Hapkido are amazing to watch. Highly recommended.

Dear John, my name is Eric. I live in Sydney. I did Taekwondo for four and half years. Although I did a bit Judo with a school friend and received my orange belt of it in 1989, did Goju Ryu Karate and received my yellow belt and did kickboxing when I was red belt of Taekwondo ready for black belt. I found something different until I did Hapkido and casually did Kenpo with my teachers. My Kenpo teacher's Mr. Crime actually studied Hapkido and Kenpo and also was a kickboxer. My opinion I think deadly arts so far are some such as Hapkido, Voviam, Japanese jujitsu, Kenpo. In Kenpo they teach Japanese Jujitsu as well. I think the deadly part of any martial art are the joint locking parts. In late 80's I was wondering which martial arts I should be doing. One day I came to a Hapkido school at Darlinghurst of Sydney, the old Mr. Kim Hapkido college. They said that their style combined the elements of Kung Fu, Karate, Taekwondo, Aikido, Jujitsu (at that time we do not hear BJJ in Sydney yet), Judo and Kendo.By the way I regard I did not start Hapkido with Mr. Kim's brother Peter Kim at Strathfield school that he had a martial art shop next to his school. I am not saying Taekwondo is no good but I should have done Tangsoodo, but there is not school in Sydney but in Melbourne. My teacher said that doing Hapkido with BJJ on the ground you will not lose, but I prefer Judo.

I don't believe anyone that posts anonymously and makes rude comments. My two boys go there and we have been very happy. They get attention to bring them up to speed with the group and most importantly, my boys enjoy it. If the dojo wasn't any good then they wouldn't have such full classes. I find Olaf to be very friendly and accommodating. It has a great community / family friendly atmosphere.

A very friendly and welcoming environment. Very supportive of beginners and people new to martial arts. Students are supportive and considerate of one another which makes a lovely social and dedicated team environment.Oh and the heaters make the dojang very comfortable.

Tried many clubs prior to Melbourne hapkido academy ,and what I found was no discipline,no self confidence,no etiquette and no leadership skills. With Melbourne hapkido my 3 kids have become confident and can handle themselves in any situation with the devastating techniques they've learnt. One of my kids was bullied at school, and now after 7 years of hapkido training he's become a school captain and respected by his peers.Master Cairney and Master Boon it's a amazing what both of you have contributed to all of the children through the art and discipline of hapkido.Thankyou so much and with much appreciation, Tony Cerra

My kids belong to the original Hapkido Club in Melbourne and I went to Fairfield to see what they had to offer as this is a breakaway club. When Olaf got wind that I was involved with the other club he proceeded to bag, put down, ridicule and criticise this other club. I was taken aback at this rude and unprofessional behaviour as the original club never said a bad word about him or the club. If you want a professional and welcoming environment, this is not for you.
