Great place to visit. The 20 min film was worth it. Pay to go underground to see the old dugout and the modern dugout. Also you get to go into a mine. Great staff.

Amazing place to visit and tour, it's underground of course, like lots of things in Coober Pedy, just walking in the front door and down the first tunnel before you even get to reception is cool. Friendly tour guides, with local first hand knowledge of mining and living underground. Fantastic experience and highly recommended. They have a shop to buy opal related stuff, no food unfortunately, and plenty of information on the walls about the history of Coober Pedy.

Very informative and fun. Highly recommend a visit if you’re passing by. Opal available for purchase is fairly priced and high quality. You can walk to the top of the building which has a beautiful view perfect to catch a sunset.

We did the Ghan tour and visited this Opal Museum 8th Oct 2022 . The tour girl was local and very informative and friendly. She informed past and present history about Coober Pedy and Opal mines. There is a Museum and a Opal jellwellery shop too. We bought two earrings for my daughter and granddaughter. Good quality natural Opal with 14 ct yellow gold. We never knew in Australia Coober Pedy people live underground. It is like different world. Amazing how the houses built. We had our lunch at underground restaurant. Must visit.

Cool place to visit and learn more about opal mining and Coober Pedy. The tour includes a video about opals/opal mining, walking through a historical and a modern dugout, and walking through opal mine shafts. Definitely worth a visit!

It was a great experience to learn about opal mining and dugout houses. The tour is approximately an hour ,20 mins at the theatre and 40 mins in the mining.

What a great experience; a tour underground with details about opals, a tour through the underground house and explanation on it's construction, a tour through mining tunnels and even had opals in the wall, in it's natural environment. All this and a store, all underground, where you can purchase opals and talk to people who actually know about them. A great tour that will educate and inform you all you need to know about opals, mining, and living underground.
