Great place to visit to see a snap shot of history or for some of us things we knew as kids. Well worth the visit. The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. If you have a family connection in the area, go and see the museum and talk to the staff. Well worth the visit.

A great museum with lots of local history. Very interesting and great to see my Grandads model of the one and all and his poem out on the hecla that he worked on when he was a young boy. The team her were full of knowledge about the pieces on show. Great work to all that keep this place going.

Great museum about the heritage of the local boatbuilder Axel Stenross who run a wharf here until the 1980s. Lovely volunteer and a pretty good exposition on boat building, maritime history, fishing and sailing.

The Axel Stenross Museum is an Aladdin's cave of maritime history treasures. Although primarily focussed on the maritime history of Port Lincoln, this is in part also Australia's maritime story. The Museum is well divided into separate parts of the story (explorers, fishing, equipment, boats etc). The friendly host provides a good briefing and the experience starts with a very interesting 20min video.Don't be deceived by the simple shed like external appearance, this is well worth 2 or 3 hours of your time (more if you like to really mull over the wonders of how they achieved so much)Sadly it was raining on our visit so no photos of the magnificent vessels outside but we could view them from indoors.Entry is around $10 with the usual concessions and plenty of parking. Toilets on site.
