Toorbul Marine

At Heartfelt Funerals, we encourage families to incorperate personal items or things that bring back memories of their loved ones. In recent weeks I had the privilege of assisting a family to farewell a husband and dad who's career was boat building on the Syndey Harbour. His favourite thing to do was caulking. After speaking with a number of local boat building companies in order to source some caulking materials, who thought I was asking for their right leg, I got in touch with Doug from Toorbul Marine who was more than happy to give me a length of caulking which was combined with their flower arrangement for the family. The wife's reaction to the initial smell and regognition of what had been placed in the flowers was heartwarming. After the service, family cut it into portions and his adult children and grandchildren all took some home as a keepsake and reminder of their Dad and Grandad. Thank you Doug for being so selfless. Your act of kindness made such a big impact on a family who were grieving.

Mobile and landline disconnected...Unfortunately I found out by visiting Toorbul Marine in person Feb 2023, that Doug had passed away mid 2022. Karen had sold the property to a Toorbul local and had moved South to be with family.Albeit late, please accept my condolences for the loss of a wonderful bloke who knew boats better than most.There may be a chance the business will re-open but that's many moons away.
