Bistro St Jacques
Saturday was our second time eating here, both experiences were fantastic. The food and the wine are outstanding. Gary and Tom are lovely and had such passion for the wine and food. Everything was excellent, I strongly suggest the scallops! The prices are comparable to similar restaurants in Sydney. I hope to dine here again soon. Thanks for a great night!

Excellent taste and presentation. French style portions size . We went for the set menu with 3 dishes: entree, main and dessert. But if one person in the table wants to go for a single dish can't. All in all out.

Lovely little French style bistro. The food here is tasty and feels home made.The oysters were fresh.The onion soup was super cheesy and steaming hot, perfect for a cold winter night.The zucchini flowers stuffed with prawn and scallops were ok.The market fish was very nice, I was expecting to see a whole fish at the price on the menu. So the place can be a little pricey. But the 3 starters and 1 main dish were enough for 2 of us.Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff.

We absolutely loved this place. The service was fantastic, all dishes were prepared in a timely manner, delicious and not too expensive. The wine list is prepared daily. I personally really appreciated that our server was willing to open any bottle for us and serve it by the glass.The duck was my favorite. And the cheesecake for desert is a must.I would highly recommend

This place is a touch of France in middle of Redfern, the service is warm and friendly and the food is absolutely amazing. There were three of us dining and we had the three course menu that we shared and everything was superb , the scollops were delicious as was the Pâté and all three main courses were the best French food I’ve had in a long time, the stand out being the Steak frites and the mussels, the desserts and cheese plate is just next level. So glad we found this place, we will definitely be visiting again soon. Thanks so much for the wonderful food and hospitality.

My husband and I just had lunch here. We walked in and were warmly welcomed and given a great table. The service was excellent. Attentive but not pushy. Advice given on food and wine could not be faulted. I started with a coffee which was extremely good. We then shared the tempura style battered courgette flowers stuffed with a little cheese. We got 3 pieces. They were hot and delicious. We then shared the duck & pork belly cassoulet which was again delicious and plenty for 2. Its very filling. I then had the creme brulee (sinful) and my husband had the cheeseboard. I had a pino gris from Alsace and my husband had a gamay blend (red) and a cabernet (red) both extremely good. We were there about 90 minutes and left very satisfied. We have booked to go again.

Had a beaut meal there Friday night. Good vibe n service, gnocchi, fish - silver dory - n leaf salad all delicious. With a newish Tasmanian owner we enjoyed tassie pinot n riesling. There's a lot to like!

Nice people.Duck was not hot and too tough. It should really melt in your mouth. Combination of peach and beans was incredible. Almond flakes beyond edible. Sauce unnecessary/too much.Aubergine was crazy hot.Double espresso ... not too good.Bummer.

Quaint but solid venue! I didn't try much as far as a sample size goes but the steak frites and burger were both delicious. The thick, handcut skin on fries are very unique and seasoned nicely - loved the cheeseburger should be a permanent addition to the bar menu.

Bistro St Jacques
Cosy and local atmosphere, high quality unpretentious and delicious food and wine. A little more than I'd usually spend but perfect for a special occasion and comparable to other eateries in this category in Sydney. I left feeling very satisfied and feeling that I had enjoyed a special experience
