A freshly cooked potato cake; the most perfect balance of fluffy, steaming potato and crispy, greasy, golden batter - the best I've eaten in a very very very long time. Took me straight back to the joys of a 90's childhood. I would travel all the way back to Castlemaine for more!!

Cheap..They promise a free dinner roll but dont give it to you. Drinks are cheap food is cheap. Typical pub food. The Prawn and Ginger dumplins are delish.

$9 hamburger had a good bun but the meat was only about 7mm thick, a scrape of sauce spread out with a knife, and a few token strands of shredded lettuce. I went back and told the man that for $9 I expected a bit of tomato and onion, and was told if I wanted salad I had to order it. No doubt at extra cost. Castlemaine needs a MacDonalds, KFC etc to make these owners pull their socks up. Maybe their fish is a better deal.

Food is good but the way he speaks to his employees in front of the public is absolutely shocking.I will be reporting he.NO EMPLOYEES should be spoken to like did tonite.The government should send him back to where he came from

Seriously yellow chips- genuinely wonder if they use food colouring! Really nice and perfectly cooked. Wide variety of stuff, their cheese kranskys are delicious. You cannot go there without getting a deep fried Mars bar!

Been coming here every Friday night for a few months for a bit of a treat. Consistently good and friendly service.It's a bit on the expensive side, but everything in Castlemaine is - this is where the hipsters move when they age out of Fitzroy.I've become somewhat hooked on the cheese kransky's - an item I never thought I would find myself ordering but even though I can feel my arteries harden every time I eat one - I can't seem to stop.The Souvlaki's are good too. You can easily pay the same price for one in Melb that looks fancier but will have half the ingredients.

I usually order chips and grilled fish which taste delicious. Feels like the oil has been changed frequently as the chips are gloden and crunchy. The owners are always very friendly as well. Thanks for your lovely food and hard work during these trying times.

Great fish and chips, had the fried flake and minimum chips. Good sized portion, nicely cooked and the batter was crispy. Will be back for more!

asked for lamb kebabs- got chicken. Whoever took my order asked me to repeat what I was ordering over 6 times. Then still got my entire order wrong.
