DiMase Architects

I contacted DiMase Architects because I admired their contemporary style and their ethics. In addition they promised excellent documentation for every stage. And they have delivered on all of this. Our little backyard studio apartment is now at the lock-up stage and is looking elegant, minimalist, even a bit dramatic. As an added bonus, it has been the inspiration for the up-coming garden design.

I have always been very impressed by the work of DiMase Architects, especially the studio's thoughtful approach to adaptive reuse and sustainability. Managing Director and founder Antony DiMase is an excellent listener, quickly understands a brief and offers creative, innovative and practical solutions to any problem. He is also generous with advice and ideas, and clearly explains the design process, so there are no surprises. The design work he completed for me beautifully illustrated how a dark and awkwardly laid-out single-fronted terrace could become a warm, welcoming and light-filled home. I would be happy to use DiMase Architects for any future projects.

Antony, Niea and the team have produced a comfortable stylish low energy house. It is a pleasure to live in. The full experience of initially consulting with DiMase architects from initial concepts to design and then build was professional and consultative. Even though we after going some way along the path toward designing a renovation, Antony nudged us to change to a new build because it would be a better outcome. This was great advise and the change in plan was very professional. The builders were well managed and the process has been without disputation with every one reaching the end of the job still on good terms!Thank you Antony and Niea. DiMase Architects did a great job on our extension. We were impressed when Antony and team were able to repurpose parts of our house that we had thought was a total knockdown job. This resulted in an extension that blended beautifully the old part of our house with the modern extension. I was surprised how many nice spaces could be created by careful design.

We have used DiMase Architects twice in the last two years, once to rework our rear open plan kitchen/living room, including an entirely new kitchen and alterations to doors and windows, and second to design a rear pergola as part of a garden renovation. In both cases, especially the kitchen, we had pretty firm ideas about what we wanted, and Antony and Niea worked collaboratively with us to incorporate and improve our thinking. Antony recommended a terrific cabinet maker for the kitchen and the end result is of the highest standard within our budget. We are ecstatic with the end result, particularly with the kitchen (the biggest part of the total project). We are keen cooks and just love using the new space. Doing the pergola came with some over-the-top requirements in terms of building permits which Niea in particular helped us negotiate without too much hassle. As the weather warms up we are loving that too. DiMase know about the realities of working with older homes in Melbourne's inner north and are experts at getting the most out of them within the various constraints they impose.

Antony did a fantastic job on our project (studio Appartment/ Tiny house). The end product has a great sense of space and light and looks fantastic. For a relatively small project he was always available to sort things out. Would highly recommend him.

We used DiMase a few years back to design and project manage a major renovation of our Clifton Hill period home for us. Our experience with Antony and the team was excellent.
