As a novice woodworker, I was definitely a bit unsure as to the best way to get started. I was lucky enough to get a spot in one of Stu's Intro to Woodworking classes at his Brisbane workshop and I cannot speak highly enough of his skills and guidance in helping me through all of the steps.The woodworking class started with an introduction to various timbers, Stu guided me through the timber selection process for my hallway table, through to the correct selection and use of tools and the structured plan from design, through to cutting, glueing and finishing, to make sure the finished hallway table was really high quality. I'm extremely happy with the finished product and strongly recommend anyone who is interested in starting woodwork or looking to further hone their craft to talk to Stu and Daniele at Bywater Design - I think I might be eyeing off the wooden surfboard class next!

Stuart and his team restored some furniture for us and we are thrilled with the results. We had been deliberating whether we restored or replaced a dining table and chairs, sideboard and coffee table (circa 1930s & 40s) and I am so glad we went with the former. The pieces look magnificent. The coffee table was so damaged that we wondered if it was salvageable, and all of the dining chairs were unsound. The quality of the work done is astounding and the furniture has a new lease of life. Thank you so very much. We have a few more pieces we will send your way Stuart!

Thank you to Stuart at Bywater Design for doing such a wonderful job of restoring our beautiful old wooden bench seats to their former glory. The silky oak bench seats in our hallways are probably as old as our building: nearly a hundred years old. They had given many years of loyal service but were really showing the wear and tear you would expect after such a time. I recently did a four day wooden surfboard making workshop with Bywater Design. It was a great experience and Stu was a great tutor in the art of working with wood and shaping a board. Unlike so many things these days which are only virtual, after 4 days I have a beautiful looking tangible object which is both art and performance sporting equipment at the same time. I would highly recommend building your own wooden surfboard with the crew at Bywater Designs.

Stuart built this custom cabinet to house my old records and turntable handed down from my father. With a couple of phone calls and emailed sketches, Stuart nailed the design concept and feel we wanted. I was blown away when we picked it up. Stuart is the consummate craftsman/artisan. These Art Deco styled end tables have been made to the highest quality with beautiful timbers, and precisely to our imagined design. We couldn’t be happier. 10 years ago Stuart crafted our bedroom suite and in contemplating having these tables made, there was no one else we’d have entrusted with the work.

I completed the 2 day introduction furniture making workshop and had a great time. I had a bit of woodworking experience but haven't done much for years and there were people who had no experience at all. Stuart was great and gave everyone the confidence needed to use the equipment and learn the techniques for fine furniture making. Everyone in the class had different designed tables and the finish was excellent for all. Stuart was there the whole time, making sure the design and build was to a high standard. The end result was a brilliant, high quality, custom made table.
