This new venue of The Forge is a wonderful little place. Shades of Paris for me with the excellent tasty bread for sale and the dreamy pastries - get in early for the almond croissants! You can see the kitchen and all the staff look happy to be there especially the handsome bearded head baker! The front of house staff are all genuinely friendly. Parking in Armstrong St is always full so do yourself a favour - park a distance away and walk and work up an appetite for one of the delicious pies or baguettes

Delicious sausage roll, one of the best I have ever had! Also tried the cinnamon scroll which was different as it was made from pastry. Service from the weekend worker kids was friendly and quick.

The best croissants in town. We got plain, almond and chocolate croissants. We just can say they were perfect. We came from Halls Gap and stopped only to try the bakery and I can tell it is worthy.

The roast lamb and rosemary pie is superb. The pie isn't the biggest but it is packed with proper pull-apart lamb that is full of flavour. The beef and mushroom pie is okay too, although the lamb pie trumps it for flavour.

10/10!!The food & service here was *chefs kiss*! Definitely the best bakery in Ballarat! We pigged out here & enjoyed every second of every bite! The Rueben & Proscuitto, Camembert baguettes were some of the best sandwiches we've had from a bakery! Our favourite thing was the Vanilla Slice...it was one of those things that you could cry about when you finished eating it.Keep doing what you're doing 1816, you've added a great eatery to the Ballarat region without the costly Melbourne prices!

Very authentic rural bakery with innovative bakery items :) Croissant is really fresh. Pumpkin loaf also very light and fresh. Their dessert item looks good. The sandwiches are huge. Pie also looks good too. Price are average and affordable. This bakery also have huge dinning indoor area. They also sell non-bakery item too. Staff is very friendly. Plenty of parking nearby. Walking distance from train station.

We had brunch at 1816 bake house and ordered several pies, pastries, a slice of cheesecake, a baguette and a sandwich. Everything we tried was fantastic. Our particular favourites were the pies and danishes. The staff were very friendly and happy to help us choose from their extensive selection of baked good. The prices are on par with most other artisanal bakeries you’d find in major cities.I highly recommend a visit here if you’re looking for some quality baked goods served by friendly folk.
