Thanks Richard & Cally for their great hospitality. We had two wonderful nights stay at their historic home Master King room. The newborn lamb welcome us upon arrival and we get the chance to feed Hercules with its favourite snack. It was an unforgettable experience. Most importantly, Richard’s cooking was simply marvellous!! Highly recommend Rathmore!! - Couple from Singapore ^^

Wow! What a beautiful place. My wife and I stayed for two nights in the shearer’s quarters. Absolutely brilliant. First night we we invited into the main house in the sitting room in front of the fire and enjoyed a homemade stroganoff by Richard while sipping lovely local wines and meeting other people staying on the property. The next day, we were treated to the ‘off season wine lunch’ hosted by local wine experts and makers alike with a celebrated chef preparing the food. The lunch centred around Rathmore bred lamb and local wines. To say we were spoilt is an understatement. Thank you to Cally and Richard for allowing us to experience a piece of Tasmania and hospitality that we will never forget.

An amazing stay at a property of historical significance in rolling countryside. Hosts Cally and Richard provide a variety of accommodation styles for visitors to enjoy the charms of the 1820s homestead and working property. Locally sourced food, wine and above all the warmth of the owners make for a must do.

Being charged $320 per night for 'the cottage' upon checkout when I was of the opinion I was paying $190 left a very bitter after-taste, particularly having already queried WHY the $190 discussed & agreed to VIA PHONE was in excess of the costs given on their own website. Don't fall for claims that invoiced prices were sent in an email sent (with directions) PRIOR to arrival - which did NOT arrive. Nothing about the cottage warrants a fee of $200 per night. For $320? a night, it's reasonable to expect comfortable furnishings, not 'rustic charm'.

This property was outstanding in all aspects. The house was beautiful and full of interesting pieces. We stayed 2 nights in the main house, front room was very comfortable, lovely linens and gorgeous furnishings. We were able to watch the sun come up from bed in the mornings. The food was absolutely wonderful, Cally and Richard are a great team in the kitchen, as well as being wonderful hosts. We felt very welcomed and like a part of the family. Hercules the bullock was a character and meeting a little orphaned lamb that Cally was fostering was a once in a lifetime opportunity, getting to feed little PomPom was a new experience for me personally. I wish we had stayed longer than 2 nights and will definitely return. I can’t recommend Rathmore House enough; of our 11 days in Tasmania, this was definitely a highlight.

The hosts were absolutely lovely. Although Tasmania was cold at the time, they always made sure we were comfortable, providing us with heated blankets and extra heaters whenever we needed them! They take amazing care of the farm as well as the animals, which we were lucky enough to feed. The food was absolutely amazing and I didn't want to leave! Callie and Richard took the best care of us, I'll definitely be back to stay again and couldn't recommend it more!

My husband and I were extremely fortunate to spend two nights of our honeymoon at Rathmore House, and I do not have the words to adequately describe how wonderful our stay was.Cally and Richard are WONDERFUL! They are so genuinely warm, helpful and conversational, that we left feeling like family.Rathmore House itself is absolutely stunning. Our room was, clean, spacious and absolutely gorgeous, with the most incredible view of the property. The bed was so comfortable, absolutely divine! We loved spending our evenings chatting to Cally and Richard in their lovely sitting room by a roaring fire.Make sure to book the dinner option because Cally and Richard are INCREDIBLE cooks. The candlelit dinner in the dining room each night was the highlight of our stay at Rathmore. The dinner menu was a complete sensory experience. Everything was absolutely phenomenal! The grounds of Rathmore House are beyond pictures. We loved the peaceful surroundings, exploring the lake, spotting multiple platypuses, and meeting all of their extremely affectionate farm animals around the property. Make sure to take a walk down the paddock to meet the horses and Hercules, the most friendly steer one will ever meet!Thank you Cally and Richard for a perfect, beautiful two days. It couldn't have been any more special. We can’t recommend Rathmore House enough and we will 100% be returning in the future. ❤️

Thanks Cally and Richard for your hospitality. It was a joy to stay at Rathmore/Shearer’s Quarters and for welcoming us with a beautiful home cooked meal on our first night upon arrival. The room and facilities was just what we needed and wished we had more time to spend with you both, thank you for showing us around your property on our final day and letting us say hi to your animals. It was lovely to get to know you and a bit about your lives. Many best wishes for your health and future.Thu & Dion

We stayed two nights in March 2022. What I really love about this place is you can choose which ever level of pampering you choose. We elected to stay in the shearers quarters. ( You can stay in the homestead if you like.) We elected to cook for ourselves in the shearers kitchen. (You can be served delicious meals if you want.) We elected to drive the districts and see the old convict era buildings (You can just relax and take in the surrounds of the farm if you would rather) I could see a group of five or so couples all booking a room and sharing the kitchen facilities while having a camp fire in the evenings and exploring during the days. You can collect your own fire wood if you want. Calli looked after us and made sure we had exactly what we wanted. They appear to handle all levels of requirements from VIP events to eager drop-in such as ourselves. If you've never seen a platypus, you will here. A great place. Thanks Calli. Teresa and Campbell.
