I consider this 1 of 2 affordable department stores in the CBD (the other being BigW). Kmart is newer so it's got newer tech like the elevators that reduces speed if there's no one on it or the audible price check scanners and the newer self checkout machines. It's also wider in terms of space to browse and cleaner. Good variety of options.I'd recommend you scan your items at the price check scanners before you head to the check out area to avoid surprises - for example, there were 2 types of Christmas lighting ( > 20 boxes each) all placed under the same clearance banner for $1 but one type ended up being $4 instead, then there was also 2 types of kids shorts for clearance with 2 price tags on one item $5 and $2, suggesting it reduced from $12 to $5 to $2 (as in >20 of them all had both price tags on each item, so not just one accidentally done) however it scanned as $5 and staff said that meant you'd have to pay $5, so i put those back and got the tshirt and shorts bundle that was $6 instead.If you're using a gift card, stick to the machines on the right (the ones similar to those regularly found when grocery shopping, with the weighing scale right in front of the big scanners). The ones with the smaller scanners (including its hand held scanners) on the left side more often than not doesn't detect the barcodes.

Would be nice if they had at least one customer service desk. .Matt helped under duress but it shouldn't be that way. Product without service is no better than online. That's where I'll be shopping from now on.

Interesting security you have hired. The door is always manned by security but half the time they don't check receipts. Went in today, used the self checkouts right next to the Chinatown entrance with a security lady watching me the whole time. Went to leave and she asked to see my receipt even though she watched me pay so whatever, went to grab it out my bagWhile this happened some guy walked out and the security gates went off, she turned and just watched him walk off, I casually asked why she didn't check his receipt or bag since the gates beeped and she insisted the gates are sometimes broken" AHAHAHA actually hilariousOtherwise this Kmart is great

Competitive prices, you will always find something, great place to shop. You can find great items on clearance at great prices.It’s great that they now stock branded active wear such a as Everlast, NBA and AFL officially licensed tops and bottoms.

This is the emptiest retail store I've ever seen. Anyone would think there is an apocalypse.It's one thing to not have a lot of variety, but it's another thing to be purely missing stock.I had just arrived from interstate. I needed to buy a queen bed doona, doona cover, sheets, pillows and pillow cases. Not only were very limited designs to choose from, there was in fact *no* matching stock. Like say you was pillow cases to match your sheets. Nope, sorry, none.They had, say, a kind size doona, no other sizes, but then Queen size covers, no other sizes. Total disaster.If you're shopping for discount department store bedding in the city choose Big W for range and quality.

Just went in to return a faulty item, produced a slyp smart digital receipt and the customer service assistant refused to try and scan it, stated they didn't accept digital receipts. Asked 2 more staff who said the same. I then called their national complaints line, the service rep there had also never heard of slyp smart digital receipts (which Kmart signed up with 6 months ago). A quick google search would have brought him up to speed. How embarrassing for Kmart, your own teams at store and national level remain ignorant of your technical process additions.

Great variety of products, but then, when its time to pay for items, there are zero staffed registers.Lucky I found a lovely staff guy who helped to put the shopping through because I particularly refuse to use those self check out machines.Shame on you KMART for replacing all registers into self servicing machines and removing all staffs from registers. How do you think that this contributes to the future of humanity? Removing jobs, removing interactions with human beings? Removing humanity?Are you selling your products to machines or humans?HUMANS!!Then, you should cater the shopping experience for HUMANS.I truly hope that people stop using those machines and in this case, just stop shopping here until they have people again helping customers. Please say NO to this slow ending of humanity. It is worth to shop somewhere else instead of giving in to machines. NO MACHINES PLEASE. People, humans please. Thank you!!!

At first look this Kmart store looks very different from most other Kmart stores I’ve seen; having multiple storeys and their checkout near the exit. This is why it is laid out that way considering land is limited in the CBD. But then I am happy how much easier it is to find what I need with the type of layout this Kmart store uses compared to the suburban one. Maybe retails are meant to work good with multiple, smaller storeys rather than a single huge floor.

Located in Bourke street in China Town. Located across 2 floors with a large collection of household items to choose from. Reasonable prices. The seasonal collection is good.

3 levels right in the CBD. Only took a star off due to lack of stock, and the escalator was out of order. A team member to point out the 2 lifts would've been handy. (Even a sign to show direction to lift would help.)Big store. Mens/Ladies/kids on Ground floor. Checkout either end (Nth or Sth).Good prices. Worth a visit.
