Fish and chips were much better than expected after seeing frozen chip boxes around but they were cooked perfectly and the Barramundi was great. Calamari was nice big proper pieces as well

NB.Revisited June 2021 and found that the business has changed name and logo. The menu doesn't seem to have changed much apart from some higher prices.- - - - -[Original review from July 2020 visit]It happened to be the closest/most convenient fish and chips option to where we were, but oh what a fantastic find Surfcoast Seafood was!We ordered:1. family feast, $80:- Cod x6- $9.00 Chips- Full Calamari x2- Potato Scallops x6- Chicken Nuggets x6- Medium salad- 1.25L Drink2. family pack plus, $50:- Cod x 4- $6.50 Chips- Seafood Sticks x4- Full Calamari- Pineapple Fritters x4- 1.25L DrinkEverything about this meal was great. The food itself was on point with lovely flaky and well fried fish with good crunch on the batter, moreish chips, very tender calamari, fresh salad... and the real surprise for me was the cinnamon-dusted pineapple fritters - delicious!Service/inclusions wise we were proactively given extra containers to use as plates, cups for our drinks, and a choice of two tubs of sauces per pack. The salad also includes a dressing. Basically we couldn't have asked for more.Value wise was also great; for $130 we had food designed for 10, but more than sufficient to share amongst our group of 13 (7 adults & 6 kids). Believe you me I went for seconds, and in the end we still had some food leftover. For an average of $10 per head this was a stunningly enjoyable and value for money feed. Definitely making a beeline for these guys the next time I'm in Alex Heads!

Great calamari. Crumbled fish was also really nice.Chips were disappointing, mostly batter.

I got 2 fried chicken burgers and they fried the chicken in the same oil as they fried fish in all day...fish flavoured chicken burgers are not very appetisingOther than that great food...

Our fav fish n chip spot on the coast.While the food is still great. The prices may have increased significantly. Didn’t realise til I got home but what usually cost $28. Cost $42. Hopefully was just a 1 time error. Will check the new menu next time.

This place is a great seafood spot and testimony to its high quality of fresh fish we have regularly joined the longish queue having first sampled the crispy crumbled delights more than 40 years ago. We reside in Melbourne and visit once a year

The food was really well balanced, we have grilled cod, was a little salty but balanced well with lemon, but it was very moist and tender. The chips were perfect and perfectly seasoned. The calamari is probably the best ive ever had not over or undercooked. I will say though thay if you get the calamari, get some tartar sauce because the breading is a little dry, but that barely detracted from the experience.

Value for money is terrible. The second time I visited this shop for a burger and both times orders have been wrong also for a fried chicken burger with no tomato this is what ya get. The chicken doesn't even fit half of the burger.

Best fish and chips I've had in a long time. I got the crumbed barramundi, prawn cutlets and calamari. Chips were good. Sauce and gravy good. Price was great for 4 people. The two young blonde girls were lovely. Serving size was great. Will go back when we're that way.

Nice dinner and service.We stayed nearby recently and this place had a line every night.I had the fisherman’s basket which was good. Unfortunately they had run out of calamari but subbed with extra fish. Fish, prawn and sea scallop were nice.Hubby had a burger and said it was fresh with a nice patty.We shared chips and they were yummy. Nice and crispy on the outside but fluffy insides.Would go back again and try the calamari.
