Google Maps has incorrectly labelled the old Velodrome as a ‘dog park’. It is NOT a dog park, even though people can run their dogs there. My other gripe re this venue is that too many grubby people fail to pick up after their dogs.

It’s good that there is a fenced area at all where you can teach your dog recalls, but the drainage here is awful. It’s a bog of anaerobic mud for half the year, more during La Nina. If the drainage could be improved, it would be a much more useful place. And yes, it is a velodrome, not technically a dog park. But needs must.

Fully fenced old velodrome. Also has path around outside (unfenced). Used by dog obedience club some days but open to public other days. Enter off Inglis street or Coverdale drive.Safe area for dogs to run off some steam!Not great access for anyone with mobility issues unless you stay up the top- outside the fence.Has poo bags, bin and water (for humans and dogs)
