A hidden gem inside the heritage museum. It's free to enter via the Museum's main entrance. Great coffee and range of food. Good prices too. It's an interesting setting amongst the museum's outdoor exhibits. Try the curly fries!

Great service and potion size. Average coffee. Only had outdoor dining and our food was attacked by flies for the entire lunch.

Reception has the usual pamphlets and info. Staff were friendly. Plenty of parking. Gold coin donation through to the museum and on to the cafe at the back. This accesses the outdoor section of the museum with buildings and machinery.I had the one of the daily specials, a meatball roll. It was delicious. Lots of tables in the eating area. Good for big groups.

My wife & I were passing through Mareeba towards Cooktown & went to obtain a coffee and snack from this place due to previous positive reviews. When attempting entry, Heritage Centre staff said we had to pay the admission fee if we wanted coffee. Despite explaining we only wanted to buy coffee and snacks to take away & we didn't want to see any displays, the staff said we still had to pay admission. Needless to say we went elsewhere, I wont be back and word-of-mouth is effective. Maybe this coffee shop could have a counter for those just wanting take away. Not impressed.

Very disappointed. The first place we stop is always the info centre. In over 12000km’s never have we had to pay to walk through information centre to buy a coffee. We weren’t interested in museum just wanted a coffee after a long drive. Local caravan park said a lot of travelers are always complaining

My wife and I enjoyed the coffee but the scones we were served were rock hard and inedible. We noticed another couple also left their scones as they were also hard and inedible. We enjoyed the museum and would return to it again, however we will not be visiting the Cafe again.Addendum. I have since received an apology from the Cafe for the quality of the scones on the day that we visited the Museum. Lucy ( the manager) has assured me that they strive for perfection in everything they sell to the public and as a result have investigated the matter and the outcome from them exceeds my expectation. I will now be returning to this cafe to further enjoy my morning coffee of scones with jam and cream.
