Moved from Danks Street Waterloo, discovering Melanie Ihnen at Studio 20/17 Atelier was a great find at 4/281 Clarence St, in Sydney. It's great to know there's studio 20/17 contemporary jewellery available in the city now.

I was thrilled to discover this little gem on my visit to Sydney. The jewellery is so unusual and beautifully made by Australian jewellers. I loved everything - it was hard to choose! The sales staff were very helpful and friendly - I highly recommend a visit here.

We made each other's wedding rings with Melanie, in a private couples class, and it was amazing. It took a day to turn a raw piece of gold into a shining hammered ring, and her advice and help along the way made them come out great. It was so much fun and the resulting rings are all the more special for the experience. Several (already-married) people have seemed almost jealous when they found out that making your own rings was a possibility and saw how ours came out!

My partner Johanna and I made our wedding rings with Melanie as part of Ihnen Atelier's wedding ring workshops. Melanie is very knowledgeable and encouraging, and facilitated a really special experience.We made each other's rings over two weeknight sessions and were involved in every stage of the process: designing prototypes, cutting and shaping the metal, using blowtorches to solder the rings together, and polishing and finishing. We are so happy with the outcome, and now have the rings we will wear for the rest of our lives.
