Terrible experience, the receptionist was exceptionally rude, he was unprofessional and uptight, the building smelled like urine, it was a terrible atmosphere to walk in to. The methods and specialist classes were okay, but overall not worth the travel or expense. I would not recommend, and would rather study for these subjects on my own.

rl education is the best cram school I have ever attended. Here, the admins are very helpful and polite, and the relationship between classmates and teachers is harmonious. The teacher is humorous in class, and every sentence is based on the main point of the topic. Regarding the recent one-star evaluation, I would like to say that learning is not just a problem for teachers. You mentioned that Ricky only takes special care of individual students, but you have to know that students raise their hands to speak and ask him for help. I don't think that every teacher can take care of every student, so the best way to get comprehensive counseling is to actively ask the teacher, think actively in class, and ask questions. I believe that the teacher can see the results of your hard work. Before that, as a student, all you have to do is to respect the teacher, respect the student, listen in the class seriously, and complete your homework in a timely and efficient manner. In rl education, we have tests in class from time to time, which is also the most direct way to reflect students' learning achievements. If your goal is to get a better grade, then do everything the teacher says. If you want to be the best student, please work harder and use practical actions to prove that you have the ability to enter the elite class and receive more challenging teaching.

Reply to Daniel - Part1Hi Daniel,Thank you for your review and I am sorry that you are unsatisfied with the educational service received. However, I feel the need to address your criticisms as it would offer you an explanation to hopefully compensate your feelings of “unvalued” and “put down”.Your first piece of criticism is that students are categorised as “smart” and “dumb” and separated into normal and elite classes. However, that was never our intention nor action taken. Ricky values students’ potentials and characteristics such as determination and grit. Hence, he gets to know his students’ personally, then make judgements based on their weekly homework completion and response to questions in the workbook in class. This process usually takes 1-2 months, and homework completion is recorded in a roll for references. After a student proves to be hardworking, driven and demonstrate a moderate-high level of skills, they are progressed to the elite class. In other words, “smartness” alone does not determine anything, rather, students’ performance is a measure of their relative progress against themselves. This also explains why there is no “one standardised test” that determines whether a student should be in the elite class, but a numerous number of smaller tests measuring students’ dedication and progress throughout a period.Next, you argued that the content taught in normal class and homework given are “beating around the bush”. However, the content delivered as well as homework given in both normal class and elite class are completely identical. Both classes run for 2 hours and cost the same amount of fees. The only difference between normal class and elite class is that the latter moves through homework explanation and content slightly quicker. The speed at which content is being delivered is completely dependent on students’ responses in the class. To illustrate this point, I will give you an example. When going through the same homework worksheet, such as Multiple-Choice Questions, students in the normal class may ask more questions and Ricky would spend more time explaining them, whereas elite class students might ask less questions and they move through it quickly. The intention behind running a “normal” and “elite” class is not to segregate people and upsent students in normal class, however, it is designed to better suit students’ needs. Students in the normal class appreciates the slower speed of content delivery and extra focus on details, whereas students in elite class enjoys the extra time to do practice exams after finishing content early. You give up revision time if you choose to focus on content details and vice versa. There is always an opportunity cost when you make a decision, and it is also the case when it comes to learning as we have limited time. As a matter of fact, there are many students who receive raw 50s and 99+ ATAR that chose to study in normal classes because the pace suits them better.You also commented that Ricky’s “ultimate goal” is “profit maximization”. However, if that is indeed the case, Ricky could very much have merged both normal class and elite class into one big class, charge a slightly smaller fee and teach less. However, classes are not designed that way because we understand students have different needs and that the normal-elite class system best suit student priorities. As mentors, our aims are to support our students in their academic journeys and help them achieve their potentials. RL Education provides an education service, that many find useful and thrive from. Like every product or service created in history, RL Education cannot cater for the needs of absolutely everyone, however, we say with confidence that 99% of students who studied with us are benefited and improved as a result of their hard work and our support.
