Mount Kaputar National Park
Another absolutely stunning Aussie National Park. We loved this place, the kids loved this place. And that was even before we saw the pink slugs!!! So weird so interesting. So exciting!

A subalpine gem. The Governor lookout and climb was my favourite, just amazing at sunset. The weather was perfect though, it could be very different in rain or fog. Still, I'd like to return here one day

Stunning park! Great hikes and view points. Road up is windy and feels quite dangerous so go nice and slow.Lots of kangaroos!

Speculatuar views from the summit and numerous look outs. You can park your car at the summit with a short set of stairs to the top.Allow 1 hour to reach the summit after passing the info centre when driving. We only did a day trip but would love to return for a spot of camping and hiking.

Great national park with a variety of walks and lookouts to enjoy. I was surprised that Mt. Kaputar was 1500m above sea level and while cool on and April night it was certainly not cold. Great campsites are located on the mountain but busy during holidays and with the inability to book sites it is a bit of luck to be able to get one. Hot showers and flushable toilets are at both campsites on the mountain. If these two sites are full there are a couple of options in the area but these aren’t fantastic.

This is our second trip here and Kaputar was just as spectacular the second time. Brilliant amenities at Dawson Springs Campground … the road in is in need of attention after recent rain and there are many holes and fallen rocks to be aware ofIt snowed whilst there do always be prepared with wet and cold weather gear

Lovely view of Sawn Rocks in Kaputar National Pk just half hour from Narrabri on sealed road to parking area. Wheelchair access via bitumen path and metal walkway right to viewing area.

The walk up Mount Yulludunida is exceptionally good. Great views with a real feeling of remoteness. It's worth taking a thermos up to have a cuppa whilst taking in the expansive views.

Amazing national Park, worth the drive out from Narrabri and then up the mountain. Drive takes about 35 mins from Narrabri to the start of the mountain road, then give yourself 45 minutes to get to the top.The road is unsealed for half the way up, then mostly sealed after but it is very tight in many places and steep. Best done in a 4wd.

About a 45 minute drive from Narrabri this sub alpine national park is in top condition with a range of walks, camping and some limited cabins. It's a credit to the rangers the roads have just been regraded and the facilities are in top shape. The camping grounds are well defined with showers and toilets nearby. Wonderful walks and views. It is also easy to just drive through as well but caution is needed on some of the bends. There is a gravel section but taken slowly is fine in good weather. Also ideal for a day trip but need to take own supplies.
