Henty Park

Loved the park, very generous sites, clean ensuit, just a short walk to the beach.

Nice free camp it gets busy and there are not that many spots so get in early. All sorts of camping vehicles including a bus with trailer. The free camping site is close to town and just behind the tram museum/main stop for tourist tram. $20 and it goes along water front passed the botanical gardens and you can get on and off all day. There is a playground for kids which has slides and swings. It's dog friendly with fenced dog area's one yard for small dogs one larger yard for big dogs, both have dog activities. The toilets are clean and modern but a little walk if your camped at back. There are no showers but the aquatic center will let you shower there for$3 There is a large oval full of birds. good base for exploring area. It is a 48 hour camping area monitored by ranger.

Nice little park good playground and large slide on a small hill, toilets, clean bbq area with shelter. Also fauna park with emu,s & kangaroos. Lots of grass area for picnics.

I'm really disappointed that this site doesn't include vans. Not everyone can afford a 100K caravan. The site itself has toilets open 24 hours and even a sign for showers at the pool. I honestly do not get why it doesn't include vans. You don't need to be fully self-contained for this site. 100% a class thing and about the kind of travellers they want in this town. What a joke. Tempted to straight up drive to the next place and skip spending time in this town at all.

Didn't stay, weather was closing in and we decided a warm night with power would be nice. Otherwise found the park clean and tidy.

Awesome 48hr free stop, well done Portland, public toilets look very new and were open 24hrs. Dump point was clean and the camping area was spacious. Not too far from the road but very little traffic noise. Cute little tram museum next door with daily tram rides. Self contained vehicles only
