Long waiting times in ED but standard of care is awesome. Dr Ali and the nursing team are amazing. They stopped and explained everything and had an actual conversation to put me at ease instead of rushing me out like cattle.

You can slap lipstick on a pig but it’s still a pig. Outdated hospital with cosmetic fixes that don’t assist staff or patients. ED is poorly run and lacked any organisation which results in blown out lead times. Better off taking the extra drive and heading to another hospital

Upon arriving and departing the Emergency Department I received an extremely high standard of care and attentiveness with kindness from all staff attending to me.I felt extremely comforted receiving regular checks not just for my severe injury but checking on my well being and my coping with the situation. My fear of the unknown after my accident was daunting, yet I was continually calm in Austin Hospital emergency department thanks to the staff and their expertise. My sincere thanks to all who cared for me.Christine ox

Had to go there with an ambulance from an accident scene. My wife and my mother were the patients. My mother had language barrier and was frustrated to be alone and my wife have white coat syndrome and was scared. I had to keep go in between cubicles to calm both down. My wife got discharged on a wheelchair about 10minutes before my mother and I bought her into my mother’s cubicle to wait for mum. The young nurse came and asked my wife to go out the emergency department and wait for us to join her after my mum get discharged. I explained the whole situation to her very politely and she gave me an awkward look and left without saying anything. After 2 minutes she came back again and said your wife can’t stay in here with you, we have a policy that every patient should have only 1 visitor and I explained to her again that my wife is not a visitor, she was a patient and she has WCS. She started being rude and yelling at me in front of the other patients and doctors. The doctor came and I explained everything to him and told him that if you want respect from the public, the health team need to respect the public as well. I was already frustrated and scared because of the accident and the attitude of the nurse that night made everything worse. By the way, I am also a health student and I obey the rules but this was more a race issue. It wasn’t the first time I experiences racism acts in Australia.

I have been an outpatient of Austin Health since 2019 but until Tuesday have not had to receive care in the Emergency Dept. then the Short Stay ward. Despite having to wait 4 hours to be seen by a doctor due to the business of the dept., once I was inside I was seen immediately and all the necessary tests were done to try and diagnose my medical condition I came in for and I was transferred to the short stay ward to stay till they were happy to send me home Wednesday. I am a retired Division 1 nurse so know what is expected of proper care and that is what I got from every person I had contact with. I will be continuing to have care at Austin Health and am confident that I will be looked after.

Bitter-sweet post I lost my dad today. He suffered from breathing problems and had been in icu 2 times before including a long 1 month stay and this being the third time in icu. Unfortunately his condition this time was extremely severe and he was also a lot older and he sadly passed away. But I want to thank the lung specialists and icu team for all the great job they did throughout his stays without which I wouldn't have spent that extra quality time with him last few years. Australia really is a lucky country.

Went in an ambulance. The nurses and doctor in emergency were so gentle and caring. Was to be admitted so went to short stay, absolutely first class! Own room and bathroom. From there to ward and I cannot speak highly enough of all the nurses and doctors. Austin you are number 1. Thank you

Absolutely disgusting service. Avoid at all costs! My father had an urgent operation booked at this hospital. He was waiting on the date and details of the operation. There was no communication from the hospital at all. When he made contact, according to the hospital, they had they had lost his operation in the system". This delayed it by more than a month. What hospital loses the operation? This delay only put my father in further discomfort

Pretty below average for myself, back problems- didn’t care that my results appt was well before the scan appt, how does that even work.Problems with details right the way through dealing with the hospital, they have poor communication.Very clear they have no care for people living beyond the city edge. Problems that should have been straightened out months ago are still current & details still remain incorrect & now I have to see my doctor to try and figure out the mess they’ve created, if not just start again from scratch. Very disappointing when my grandmas experience was so different.

Used to sort of be an OK hospital. My wife had an appointment with nuerology over a year ago. Doctor advised he will make another appointment in 6 months to make sure my wife is OK. After 6 months I telephoned and was advised my wife is in the system and an appointment will be made for her. Later I telephoned 2 more times. It has now been way over 1 year and still no appointment???? My wife has a problem. If the system will allow me I would give 0 stars.
